Of course, she waited until the late afternoon on the day before the event, to come up with her paper garment. What to wear? What to wear? The neighbors walk by, wondering what the nutcake in the Paradiso Perduto sorta property (you know, monster overgrowth, broken statues everywhere, chandeliers hanging from trees) is doing in the yard with a mannequin and paper towels. They can't see her very well through the trees and the shrubs, but they are certainly curious...
In fact, 30 minutes, two rolls of paper towels, infusions of inspiration, tape and a lovely mannequin led us to a dreamland of sorts. So, if you are in the mood, put on your dreamland goggles and come with me...
You see, the creator of this fluffy white paper towel frock (that would be me), used to make clothes and hair gadgets and jewelry galore. She used to dress all her friends in highschool and college, and do their hair. She loved this dress up kinda stuff (an she still loves making jewelry and playing dress up).
Anyhow, all her mannequins (oops sorry, they don't like that M word) were in a fit over who would get to wear the Project Blogway frock... But before she could decide, the frock had found its wearer on its own...
You see, the girl in the paper towel frock, was very very enchanting. She rode a special tricycle all over the country side, stopping to sell flowers and play her mandolin and red piano for anyone who would listen...
She was a bit mysterious, people would say...
I would loove to be her, wearing that lil' number out tonight...
I loooved making this paper towel dress. Bounty gets a big hug for these sturdy happy sheets...
I think this girl must be quite the charmer, cycling around with her piano and mandolin in this fluffy white party dress...
Oops, I think she hears us whispering about her...
Paper Towels make the most lovely ruffles. Do you think you would brave this dress out on the town?
I think she deserves to go to a real life party... Maybe we can find her a lovely date with the Mad Hatter perhaps?
Although, I think she is a bit of a loner, in a good way. She likes to do her own thing... Playing her haunting little tunes...
Seems she has found her way into the Fairy Tale Forest. I think the other paper dress dolls would welcome her.
She begged to wear some of my baubles... Will she give them back is the question...
Now remember, if you hear a strange little tune, outside your window, it just might be this girl. And, if you jump on her bike, she might take you into a dreamscape of your own. That, or I'll send you two rolls of paper towels and a couple instruments, and you can be her for a day ;)
So, there is my contribution to Project Blogway, Fun stuff I tell ya!! Thanks Miss Lisa!! And Miss Terisa!!
Also, I wanted to thank you for the allergy kindness and bike love. My Vintage three wheel bike was a gift from Mr. Lovee when we first met ages ago. It is from the 50's and was in the window of a beautiful shoppe. I squealed and he gifted it to me. With the rains this summer, which have been more than I have ever experienced out here, my bike has in fact gotten a little rustier than we would like :) But, she is going to her appointment and will be back to normal soon.
In the mean time, I will ride my Red three wheel bike, and wait impatiently for my Schwinn to return...
She sends you lots of honks and flowers and love!!
Annnnd, this week's thriftventure gift (Balzac book) goes to.... Number 55!! I used the Random Number Generator tonight because I am noodley and sleepy... Let's see, who is # 55... Pumpkin Pink Cottage! Woohoooo, send me your addy Lil' Miss!! She has such a fun bloglette!!
Off I go for now. I am a happy camper this evening!! The weeds are almost gone and I am delighted. I have no idea why I got such a bad allergy attack after no allergies for years and years... But the good thing about weeds here is, if you hack them down, they dry up and die. Why? Because, the summer rains are over and they have nothing to help them survive, yippppeee!!
♥, V
ps: Before I go, I wanted to ask you a question. Are you in the mood for a Halloween Soiree, say in Mid October sometime? Just a fun, stressless lil' party, kind of like the Mad Tea Party? Well, I am planning one, and I hope you will join me. I will give you more details next time...

I can hardly contain my glee............it's your paper dress girl come to life!! Paper towels never looked so good and wouldn't it be a great ad for them? You always have the perfect props and with that great setting it was a photo shoot to end all photo shoots! I LOVE it all down to her pink tights!!!
Thank you my friend for taking part in this challenge. We're two of a kind waiting until the last minute, eh?
OK I need to step up my mannequin search!!!
Love,
Lisa

SPECTACULAR dress. Love it. You should wear it around town or make a fabric version just in case it rains. I have a thing about white (ie I don't wear it) but I'd wear this.
Halloween soiree sounds like fun :)

ohh I am always in a mood for a Halloween Party!! This time of year is the best for us and my boys just love decorating for it. Lucky for them their mom has designed many Halloween items on which to decorate. It comes in handy when you have your own, blown up pumpkin patch and party goods and several fun ceramics. We are full of anticipation for the event!!
This year I will have some great adult Halloween cocktail games, partygoods and other items in Walmart, just look for a bunch of eyeballs and cockroaches and severed fingers!! he he!
Have a great day Vanessa!!

Little red piano playing lady is a vision of lovliness. I must say Bounty does make fluffy ruffles. While I do hug my Charmin Ultra, it doesn't have the same buoyancy.

I love it!! That is just the greatest dress and the tights are fabulous with that pretty ribbon belt. I soooo wanted to make a paper dress, but 2 of my munchkins were under the weather. I think we will do this in Girl Scouts!!
Oh, a Halloween Soiree!?! What fun.

A Halloween Soiree sounds wonderful. Your dress is made of my favorite fabric. I would wear this dress and the tights (pink is my favorite color) for an entire day. I think I would give the jewelery back in exchange for another piece.Such a beautiful creation!!! Thanks for the lovely comment you left on my blog, I really appreciate it. Have a wonderful day.

Miss Vanessa, I love that dress and I would definitely wear that out on the town! You should try to create a sewing pattern for that dress and make one of your own. Wouldn't that be fun?
Posted by: Sharon | September 17, 2008 at 10:47 AM
Another wonderfully enchanting post!
Your dress is stunning. It's funny to say that about something made of paper towels, but it is truly stunning!
Always in awe of your creativity.

I can't believe that is made out of paper towels, it looks great! And I love the idea of a Halloween party whether or not I can make it is another story. :)

wow~ you are a genius with the paper towels.
but if there were more monsoons she could certainly absorb them!
you must really be a kick for your neighbors :)
Posted by: karin | September 17, 2008 at 11:24 AM
What a lovely frock indeed...and I would think that if she wasn't good enough to give you back your baubles, after you were so kind to lend them to her...tackle her! Or you could threaten to turn the hose on her and watch her gown disappear (goodness...I'm in the revenge mode, eh?) You Know? I think back in the vintage section of Snap Snap, I have some actual paper dresses from the 60's...

Lovely girl in paper! Good thing the monsoons are over! A halloween party sounds great...if I don't get dragged away on an off-road adventure I would love to come!
Posted by: waterrose | September 17, 2008 at 11:56 AM
Miss V, you have created a BOUNTY of ruffles with your paper towels there! (Pun intended ;-) )
Great job on the blogway challenge. And your model, my dear I despair of ever having legs like that! They are to die for.
Glad you are feeling so much better after those mean old allergies tried to take you down.
Hugs,
Kate

She is lovely as can be.
What a fashion plate!
A fashion paper plate that is!
I just adore your super absorbent paper towel dress! You wouldn't need a napkin at dinner with this little number.

Awesome paper dress!!! Halloween Soiree??? I am in!!!!
Posted by: Kandes Lee | September 17, 2008 at 12:28 PM
The Project Blogway froc is so pretty. I love the pink hose too! She is just beautiful.
I use to be that girl dressing up others to look great then myself but she left herself and focuses on her little girls now.
I am with Lisa what a great advertisement this would make for Bounty or some other paper towels. You should send it into one of the companies, maybe some extra cash for the queen of the froc. Just a thought. As always enjoying your blog. Hugs, Bobbi Jo

Vanessa,
I looked at photos before I read. My first thought was who has those legs! I WANT them! Wow, Bounty does the trick....such a soft drape to the ruffels. :) What a great outfit and congratulations for doing it while you still had sun out. You get points just for that one!
Hope to get involed in yout soiree this next month. Loved seeing the Alice one!
Thank you for participating in this one!
