Today was such a strange day. Little dreams fused together, and all of a sudden, they came true, just like that...
About six months ago, Mister Lovee told me there was a grand treasure with "huge" potential parked down the road. I drove by and couldn't find it... And that was that.
So, I kept dreaming, never knowing that my dream boat on wheels, really was parked down the road waiting for me...
Until today, when I heard a huge surprise was being delivered. A hand built contraption - perfect for the the title of Fanciful Gypsy Wagon...
And so, a very very unexpected gift was driven in, to sit under the trees and beckon me to make it become part of my wildest imagination... (insert- squeal, freak out, jump up and down)
There are some things that in my gut, I know will find their way to me someday. And I never say, "nah, that will never happen..." In my mind I try to say, yes, it could happen, it could! Then, when things do happen that I am hopeful for or about, I am left stunned and grateful to the core.
Believe. Believe. Believe.
Believe that one day, a little door to a secret compartment, on the front of an old wonderfully tattered (but sturdy and in good shape) gypsy wagon to be, will carry your luggage from cloud to cloud...
I think my luggage was delighted to finally be able to go on a voayge...
I LOVE the paint. Peeling, colorful, layered, beautiful old gal...
I have been playing with all sorts of ideas inside of the wagon today (of course, I almost got heat stroke too). I will show you more detailed pictures after she has a serious bath, and I can get my brain back into normal gear, as opposed to shocked silly...
Many years ago, my friend Dino and I had planned to build a gypsy wagon that would also house a marionette theater (that story can be found here). I made a sign and painted a gypsy woman and hung it right inside here...
Today, I was able to remove my Gypsy Theater Sign...
And put it on my little wagon...
The garden welcomed it with open arms as I hung my birdcage from my Grandpa on the side...
On either side of the wagon, there is a wee ledge (below), which is super cute for displaying trinkets for sale etc...
I can't wait to show you more. Like I said, after she has a bath, I will take more photos. The inside is a perfect size. Not huge, but not small either. It is perfect for a little bed or a little antique sofa and a table and shelves and other things to make an adorable little room to disappear into and dream and draw and invite friends over to play in...
The wonderful news too is that, the wagon is only 13 steps from the garden bath...
I called to get a ball hitch installed on my car, who knows, I might want to go for a night in the mountains in my wee wagon...
I best start packing ;)
Today I realized, almost everything I own is antique or vintage or tattered or chipping. And, that's just the way I love things. Mister Lovee is a lovely ole chap for recognizing my quieros (desires/wants) and for liking the same things I do.
Yes, sometimes we bicker like children. And sometimes, we get on each other's nerves. But, there is much much love and compatibility. And the bickering is kind of fun, because we always end up laughing in the end.
We love our wacky little lives on our wacky little property. Simple and wacky.
Once, 10 years ago, we were on this swing and Mister said to me, over popsicles and one raindrop tear, "Thank you for enhancing my life..."
I have felt the same way about him ever since myself, and he knows it for sure ;)
Now, back to the gypsy and getting my wee abode in order...
♥,V
ps: I am playing a little Django Reinhardt and the sky is hopefully sending a storm to cool the land so I can go back outside and play...

He's a peach hun ;-) And so is that soon-to-be gypsy wagon! I'm already anxiously awaiting to hear the stories that come about because of her...me oh my, I can hear it now! She'll be a beauty when you get done with her, I can imagine that too...you are so festive and creative and I love the way you two live too...it's wonderful, such free spirits!

p.s. just made some of your paper flowers and I'll have to say...they didn't turn out nearly as nicely as yours. I think I've got to practice a bit more, tee hee. Who knew paper flowers would be so hard to get lookin' cute. My oldest wants to try her hand at it tomorrow. I got some really cute Amy Butler 'Lucky Flowers' paper that works perfectly. Thanks again V!

I don't know what to say...some people really do have the means to make dreams come true. This is an outstanding delight that has been bestowed upon you and I know it will come to life in the most magical way.
As you know my lifelong dream to have my own Gypsy Caravan is still alive and well....perhaps I will change the wording I put in to the UNiverse and another dream will come true for a wee house in California.
Until then I await more detailed photos.....and many hours of pure pleasure dressing her up!

You have a Gypsy wagon...how perfectly perfect Miss V!! :-)
I am beyond happy for you, and especially that you plan to hitch said wagon to your car and take off to parts unknown...this is all so you! The girl who would ride off on your bike on a whim...imagine where you will go when you have a bed to climb into after your journey.
You know how much I dearly love you and Mr. Lovee, this is a man who is clearly deeply in love with his muse. You totally compliment each other!
Oh, and by the by...as I'm sure you've heard about 1,000 times too many, you do remind me of Stevie Nicks (back in the day)! ;-)

I just love your gypsy wagon. I wish I had one and that is my new wish is to have one someday. My mother said when my great grandma Cassie would be outside that the neighborhood children would call her a gypsy and I am proud of that. She was a wise old soul with a dark tan, short and stocky, she even dressed like a gypsy. She lived to the ripe old age of 101. Many Blessing to you and your Mr. Lovee.

The colours!!!! It looks absolutely intriguing.
I bought a pink tulle ballet dress and am twirling around in it. I should get one of those little umbrellas and perform a circus act by your caravan.

Oh, now you have me singing Stevie Nicks!! tee hee!! :) Did all girls in the 80's and 90's go through a Stevie Nicks phase...or is that just me!??? tee hee
I love your sing song gypsy caravan world! :)
Thankeeeeee Miss Loverrly Gypsy muffin cake!

oh, the gypsy wagon looks PERFECT!!
you know, new orleans is full of peeling paint and the smell of antiques. it is a huge reason i live here. i don't have enough "old" things in my own home, but i'm working on that... there's just something about an item that someone loved and cherished before you did that makes it all the more special.
can't wait to see what you come up with!
Posted by: amberleilani | August 06, 2009 at 06:09 AM
Oh...I'm so very excited to see what the end result will be after a long sudsy bath for this beauty! What a perfect addition to the garden...

great imaginations think alike. I, too, have a gypsy wagon... annwnwagon.com
She's also a work in progress, but I use her
to travel to art shows to sell my arts..
I've got a couple gypsy-girlfriends that
have gypsy wagons that travel with me.

I am so happy for you, your pictures are wonderful. Such great textures and colors that your new treasure has.
I am wondering if you've ever seen artist Rima's site:
http://www.intothehermitage.blogspot.com/
Her and her husband refurbished an old truck of sorts into their very own Traveler's wagon and they travel around the countryside enjoying nature, creating art, etc. There are some wonderful pictures of her art, their traveling creation, and the various areas they visit. If you have not seen it I think you would really enjoy it.

EEEEEEEEKS!! That is beyond exciting, V.!! OOOh your very own gypsy wagon, how fun! I love peeling paint and worn away letters, missing pieces and rusty metal..it gives everything character. You know that no one else has the same thing, it's all your own! Oo what fun. I'm just thinking of how magical it's going to look after you let loose in there...oh so good. *Dream* I love gypsy wagons and have been fascinated with all things gypsy for as long as I can remember...a bed tucked in the corner with lots of sequined pillows and a fluffy throw, paper lanterns and pink lights strung about, old paintings and sweet music, and of course trinkets and tokens, jewelry and charms...*siiiighhhhhhh* Love. You tell Mr. Lovee that he made more than just you happy, because you make little pieces of my dreams come true too.
XOXO,
~Krista

You have the most charming blog. I adore
the birdcage, the suitcases, the trees,
the bathtub, beautiful shots. You've captured the essence of objects and their
secret lives.

How wonderful! That's so exciting :) I also wanted to tell you that I'm hosting a Halloween Swap on my blog, thought you might want to check it out :)
Posted by: Harley | August 07, 2009 at 10:54 AM
Oh wow, that looks stunning, even without a bath and by seeing only little pieces. I can imagine you are having a ball playing in your new little magic place. Maybe you could make it some kind of guest room and rent it out? Ofcourse, that idea is purely egocentrical, since I'd hope to one day visit the States and who knows travel around and wonder into your magic garden. Like you said: Everything is possible, isn't it?
If only we dare to dream...

Well, Miss Vanessa, I have been a reader of your blog for such a long time, but never commented before - until now. You bring a smile to my face every time I visit (which is often). I live over the ocean, in Australia, but how I wish I lived down the road from you and that beautiful gypsy garden of yours! I can't wait to see the gypsy wagon when it is finished - I can only imagine the kind of exotic magic you will weave! Have a most wonderful day! Tina x

WOW!!! is that the one...the one we talked about some time ago?
Mr. Loveeee...here is a kiss for you from me...I am sending my Mr. over for lessons...OK!!! I hasten to add that my Mr. is pretty wonderful, so all you would be doing is gilding the lily and making suggestions...I have a little garden-house-studio-gypsy-wagon-tent type of thing in mind...any or all would do...and a claw-foot-tub-basin-horse-trough kind of thing...for bathing in and or growing flowers.
I can't wait to see the whole thing...this is so exciting.
To cool of, you could come and take a walk in my Magical Mushroom Forest :) xoxoxo

How wonderful. My "Gysy Wagon" is an old, miniture airstream with only room for a bed, table and Christmas lights. It will sit in my backyard surrounded by a cottage style garden and a birdbath. Can't wait to see the finished product.
Hugs,
