Taking a short break from party prep to say hellllllooooooo ;) I have officially gone mad -
If you are getting ready for the party, I hope your Halloween party prep is going wonderfully. I am behind in everything under the sun, except shipping out orders (I take that very seriously, tape and all).
For today, I want to tell you a little story. It has to do with my new furry baby. You see, when we brought him home Mister Lovee was very worried because Matty was, in a way, reactionless. He didn't cry, he didn't bark, he didn't act scared. He was just still and quiet.
I went on line, reading all sorts of puppy advice.
Most people wrote tips about how puppies take a while to creep out of their shells, and that they are mostly confused and scared.
So, I went with that.
2 days after having Matty he was running around playing, taunting Baby and having a ball.
The other day, I was about to catch a cold (I have not had one for 3 years, and averted this one too, yay!) and was attempting to take everything out of my gallery (boxes stacked to the ceiling) to use the space for my party prep.
While I was sneezing and working like a mad woman, I heard a loud splash and crash. I thought, what is Baby (big dog) up to? I walked over and it wasn't Baby, it was Matty. He was swimming in the big dog pool! He was jumping all around and being crazy as can be. He was wet and filthy, and happy.
He is officially out of his shell. Cracked wide open.
The timid little creature he once was...
Don't be fooled by that face (and heartbreak hotel eyebrows) friends.
It.
Was.
All.
An.
Act.
"Haaaa haaaaa, I fooled them!"
I am just waiting for him to take out a couple of Cuban cigars and have his other pals from the neighborhood over to play cards.
Actually, in all honesty, he is a lot of fun, not tooooo bratty, and still not a barker. He listens, he goes out for potty, he walks himself to bed every night. He is smarter than smart.
But, he has his own 100% full fledged personality, and it's his way or...
"Let me out of here, I want to go swimming again......."
And it is hilarious!
But, I dare say, he seems too smart to be a puppy. What's up with that?
"Grrrrrrrr, I ain't afraid of nuthin' "
He acts tough until he hears the coyotes and then he leaps in my arms like a proper furry baby.
"I love you Mommy, will you pick me up now?"
This is funny, this puppy world. I had no idea. (my Mom thinks I have fallen over the edge, into puppy love insanity)
"I am so done with this photo shoot..."
And he is off...
With that, I must be off too, and back to my party prep. Thank you for hanging in there with me while I have been so busy!! I hope we have a blast this weekend with the party visits!
♥ ,V

Hi Vanessa,
Glad he is coming out of his shell! He is just too cute! When we first had our cats(both strays) one of them-Lily-spent the first week under the chest of drawers in the spare room. She would rub her face on your hand if you put it under there but would not dare to come out. I love the fact that animals grow to love ant trust us just like people do. There is not too much distinction in my mind!
Looking forward to the party! Get some rest though!

I love Matty. I love Baby. I love this blog. You just have no idea... thanks much for everything! And say, while you give Mister a thumbs up from the Classic City here, give yourself a pat on the back, Sweetie.

Your little Matty makes me look forward to the day when we will add a puppy to our home. Why wait, you say? Well, because our old dog is a loner and would not accept a newbie. Little Matty has that Dingo look to him; cagey, capable, tough. Such a lucky boy to have found a home at the Gypsy Camp.

He's a charmer! Do you remember that human/dog post you did? Makes you wonder sometimes when they do certain things. I'm all set with my post for Saturday ~ I'm a little nervous, since this will be my first foray into this type of post, but hey ~ you only live once, right.

He's so cute! You caught him in some great poses. My Grandson (age 11) is here and I was showing him the pics. All he could say was "aaahhhhhh"

Too cute! The latest addition to my pack is a lab mix named Blue (actually the brother of the little furry girl I adopted from the same litter). He had a rough start and was with the wrong people who didn't treat him well.... By the time I got him, it was me, or the pound (yikes).
Like Matty, Blue was not a barker, didn't really do much of anything at first. But he bonded quickly and got along famously with my other dogs. So much so that when I took him to the vet -at this point, I'd had him about a week- the Doc said..."You've had him how long? I don't believe it-it's like he's been in the family all along!"
Blue really is a super-fabulous dog. He does bark a little now, but only when he's on "patrol".
I'm so glad Matty's found a home with you and Mister (and Baby), he looks like a bundle of fun! :-)

Matty is adorable. I'm glad he broke out of his shell. When i got my Mabel, she was so shy and hid under the bed the first night or two. Before I knew it, she was sleeping up next to me and waking me with her paws to wake me up.
I'm still in halloween party mode..i still have a lot to do. I know it will all come together.

Matty is adjusting perfectly, I think!!
He is adorable!
BTW. I don't want to bother you, but how does the party work? I am sure we start here, but do we comeback to go to the next on a list? or do we link the next person to our blog.
I'm sorry. I am a newbie!!! and very excited!!

Good Morning from the howling wind and sea! Perfect Halloween weather ha! Your pup is so cute! Can I jump in the puppy pool too?! Is he a cattle, shep breed? I had a shep that was hilarious he was so intelligent and spiritual. When I would look into his eyes I knew immediately he was a spiritual master.I use to live in a tiny loft across from the Glastenbury Abbey (Hingham) where monks resided and were my playmates when they were not doing the serious monk thing.ManRay was like the mascot of the Abbey. When he crossed over the monks said I could bury him there on the grounds.Since then somebody built a labernyth over his burial site because it is like an energy vortex!
I love your blog journey so uplifting in dreary..oops spooky New England now! I know what you mean about puppy love!

I have dangled out the invitation for the dear ones who visit my little world and am sooo excited dear Vanessa! Thanks for doing this lovely event!!! Bless your little baby! Would you email me about the cold avoidance technique sometime when you are not as busy dear friend? I have gone a very long time without being sick until this Fall and my house can't seem to kick it. I have four, count them four sick little ones and my own nose has been stuffy and miserable for 6 weeks!!!!! This is just not our norm. Would love Doc V to give us the edge we need to get back to the bliss of health! Thanks dear dear one and blessings and efficiency I send for your lovely prep!!! It will be magic. Know this.

Neither of my puppies barked either. My husband has a theory that they don't bark because they don't want to alert predators to their presence. I don't know about that, but neither of my dogs barked much until after 9 months. Also, I said the same thing you're saying about my akita/lab puppy. She was very subdued when we brought her home, I think because she was still young, perhaps a bit malnourished and scared, but she grew into her personality and ended up being an overly energetic dog. Our Wheaten didn't bark until after he was neutered, but man did he caterwaul at first. It was pathetic and all I could think all the way home from picking him up...all 7 and a half hours of it..was that I hoped that we hadn't made a HUGE mistake. But he calmed down.
Erin :)
Ps. I am now scrambling on my Halloween post as I've already seen my idea used elsewhere and I have to come up with something new. I will let you know if I can't come through and you can take me off the list. Right now I am still hoping to pull something off.

Hello Vanessa,
I'm mostly a "catwoman' ( six cats in our house..) and since my daughter was bitten by a dog, although is was a very very sweet dog, I'm not so fond of dogs anymore ( but my husband is...).
But my heart melts when I see your Matty...His expressions are so nice to see.
I think the most important thing for a dog is having a good education and it seems Matty is having a good home...
IF one day we would have a dog in the house ( when we are retired and more at home...) I would choose a big dog, a "real" dog. I'm not a "chichuahua" lover or lover of a dog with a bow in his hair.....
I guess your Matty is a German shephardsdog ? Thàt's a real dog or a dog like a husky...
Anyway, cats rule our house for the moment !
Decoration is on, my guests have arrived, photos are taken, now I only have to make collages in photoshop and write my blog....
Maybe this evening or tomorrow afternoon I let you know the link to my blog.
Enjoy your preparations !
greets from belgium

OH! I am so in love. What a darling little guy. Reminds me bunches of puppy Tug next door who was rescued not quite a month after Sweet Daughter (and me) rescued Cody, yellow/white lab mix. They love each other.
The picture with his big sis is sooooo charming. Lucky pup, lucky & blessed family.
