Your baking skills are unbeaten Miss V. Really, that cake IS a fairy tale cake if there ever was one! And those pies!!! I want to eat them through the screen! Mr. Lovee is lucky as can be to have you baking such wonderments for him! The lattice work on the pie is soooo dreamy. I wish someone would bake me a Hansel and Gretel cake, and tell me that it is mine, and that I can just BITE into it! What a beloved 6 year old she must be!

"Sugar and spice and everything nice, that's what my house is made of!" Oh dear, that could be your song Vanessa! Only you are lovely and not an old witch ;) I am going to have to sit and watch this movie now! I love live action fairy tales..

So nice to see you back for a visit even though you are so crazy busy.
I've really enjoyed watching through photo's how your yard has changed. I bet it is enchanting just like you.

That cake = adorable! Love it. The weather has been so nice, I am loving that too! I am moving soon (I will still be in Tucson) and will actually have a yard to plant flowers and things in so if you have any extra seeds that you would like to share with a beginning gardener, I would be happy to give them a good home! Also, did you get my email? The owner of Chantilly tea room would love to sell your cards there, so let me know if you would be interested or not! <3

That's the loveliest cake ever!!!!!! and I was inspired to learn and make pies form you :D thank you for being Vanessa!!!!

the picture of the pink flower with the bee reminds me of a fairy for some reason :D

I'm so impressed! Baking is not my forte. And it's not for a lack of trying! lol. That cake is delightful. I want some.

Also, that video is fabulous. It's so shot in Australia, which is an entirely novel idea, given that the Australian bush looks nothing like a European forest. Haha. So glad you shared that!

Vanessa, your baking and caking extravagances look too good to be true! That fairy tale cake had my mouth watering and the late night tea party makes me swoon! What a lucky six year old indeed--had I been given the chance to bite into my very own fairy tale cake, I would have squealed with delight! Hansel and Grettel is one of my favorite fairy tales, and now I shall have to watch the entire movie! It's good to see you again!

xoxo Jess

Well, apparently it was actually shot in Israel. I have learnt something today! The Israel bush looks remarkably like the Aussie bush!

I love what you said:
"Her Oma convinced her it was a once in a lifetime experience, and they both bit into it together at the count of 3."

This six year old will remember this experience forever...you have made sweet magic for her.
It is always so good to come and visit you...one always leaves with lovely gifts.

Oh what LOADS of fun this post is!!!!! You are giving me the urge to bake after seeing your magical treats!!!! I would love one of those yummy looking cakes for myself. And blueberry pie...oh delicious! Especially when made with fresh-picked blueberries. We didn't get a chance to go berry picking last year, but we definitely will this time for fresh homemade pies. Thank you for sharing your pie crust recipe. I cannot wait to try it! And what beauty blooming in your garden. We are still in the midst of the cold winter here. Nothing blooming as of yet! xoxox

You amaze me, Vanessa
Your pie and crust recipes look divine...thank you for sharing them. The cake for your sweet 6 year old friend and her Oma looks so delicious too. I must try it! And your Challah! I can almost smell it baking! I love home baked bread. Your pies looked heavenly scrumptious too! Lucky Mr. Lovee!
Those poor children, Hansel and Gretel...they were doomed...how could they not want to eat cake and pastries???!!! Tut,tut...
I agree about the more you do the more stamina a person has. It's all about gumption and doing what we have to do.
Have a lovely week~
Miss Teresa

Great looking cake. I make one similar to that with chocolate cake and cherry pie filling. Ymm.

My husband loves pies. I think I'll do some more baking this week.

We have daffodils starting to bloom around here. Early for us even in Ga.

Your schedule amazes me....like the Energizer Bunny you are!!
You are a whirlwind of delights....artistic, culinary and earthly....a true domestic goddess who sprouts fairy wings and grants wishes :)

Just popping in again to let you know that Willa arrived safe and sound! And she is SO lovely! Thank you sooooooooo much Vanessa! I absolutely love her. I posted a blog about her arrival! It still boggles me how just a few weeks ago she was like 1800 miles away in Arizona, picking my name out of your shoe with Mr. Lovee, and now she is here with me writing this message to you. The mail is nifty :)

It's all that fresh air and sunshine- makes us all happy, content and energetic! Lovely pics of the gardens, Miss V. Thank you for sharing!

Oh Miss Vanessa, Your sweet treats look absolutly devine and your challah, I can smell its wonderfulness from here. A total job well done.

I am totally drooling over here on the east coast Vanessa...how could you do that to me!? ;) Your pies and that cake, oh my. My girls would eat all the cherries off the top first I'm afraid (they always steal my cherries off of my sundaes, etc)! So glad you've gotten to have so many fun visitors and bake and garden so much!! Your bread looks amazing too!

Big hugs (to those pups too),
Jamie :)

Thankyou so much Vanessa!!
we spent the morning watching the Whole Hansel and Gretel movie and loved it entirely, I had to keep convincing myself that the witch wasent Robyn Williams circa Mrs Doubtfire!

sheree

Oh you girls!! xoxo

Dearest lovely Vanessa!!!! Twas that Cloris Leachman beneath all that witchiness? Soo funny!!! I've never seen this version of Hansel and Gretel before but it looks super yummy!!! I think I even saw one of your scrumptious cakes a midst all those sweeties. hee hee!!!

It sounds like you've been super busy with all your baking and guests so don't forget to take some time out for yourself...maybe a hot soak in the garden??? I think I could use one of those too. Of I go...love to you from me

Coricake!! I heart you ;))))

Miss V, that does look like a fairy tale cake and that certainly must be the most delicious looking blueberry pie I've ever seen.....and I don't like blueberry pie....that one makes me want to try and see if I can be changed!

Oh, you could lure me inside any kind of house or a cave with that cake! This seems amazing!

I would love all of those baked goodies pictures and would eat them, even the ones with slices cut out of them! orange in the pie! yum! My sweetie loved blueberry pie also. And the dogs are SO much fun together. I love it that Matty has a brother.

root balls. hmmm. might not make a good pie.

Everything here is absolutly beautiful... as always, it's like a fairy dream!
