Tiny Things, New Prints & a freebie (think, Mother's day)

Phew!  I have been working feverishly to get here all morning!!  I have so much to share.  I am sooo sad to see that last blog post go!  I wanted to live in that Wacky Fanciful Pirate moment forever!! Alas, we can relive it through flickr photos.  Thank goodness!!

So, I have been living in a funny tiny moment, with my miniature table and typewriter, and teeny tiny sheets of paper, trying to tell me secrets...

        Mini_typewriter_2

I don't know if you share this with me...  But, I am an intense dreamer.  By day and by night.  I will say, sometimes (like last night), I have such intense dreams with so much detail that I can hardly wake myself up.  My head feels so heavy, and so the story continues, until it decides to be over.  All kinds of stories calling to me...  Some times, dare I say, they feel more like messages than dreams...

       Bell_jar_with_fungi

As a child I was a serious sleepwalker & sleeptalker.  I thought, I had outgrown this (I have not, more on that next time).  That I would no longer be exiting the house by night or acting out oddly while asleep.  When I was little I exited our beach house in California, in full sleep mode...  And survived to tell the tale ;)

Now, if only I would follow my own advice, and write it all down, the second I wake. Or the second a day dream brings me a tale, so juicy, so scandalous, so fairytale madness like...  But I don't.   Do you?

Needless to say...  I created a new print with many of those ideas in mind...  The Writer, ideas floating around...  The storyteller...  Being urged to tell a tale...   It is part of my Creature Collections series...

The Writer

       W_the_writer

I really do think there is a storyteller in all of us...  Just waiting to take stage, with ink to paper.

       The_writer_vignette

I also have two new Charming Silhouette prints...

Cuckoo...

       W_cuckoo_green_frame

And, Mushroom Love...

       W_framed_mushroom

So that is that...  Now for some Mother's Day fun stuff!!  I have a PDF file for you with Mother's day Cardlettes, free for you to use.  Now, the photos I am going to share of them below,  are simply for you to see the detail...

However, you MUST click on the following link to get the crisp printable PDF file:

So there you have it!  Print them off and share them with anyone you know!!!  Send your friends to get some too if you'd like!!

       Bliss_33

I hope all of you get to use your Mother's Day Cardlettes!!!  xoxo, see you soon, V

ps:  I had no idea I had so many lovely visitors to the Pirate's Soiree until I went to do the drawing!!!  Seems that typepad never sent me all the e-mails!!  I am having so much fun making visits.  We were so busy all weekend.  Mr. Lovee played (as he does ever year) with his band (he is a an upright bassist) at the folk festival Saturday & Sunday. So I am still getting to pretend it is Pirate day (and tomorrow too) and make visits to friends old and new!!!  How fun!!!

Delightfully Playing & Preparing for Donna's Party {otherwise known as, the perfect reason to pre-party at my place}

The blog soiree of the season is being held at the Swashbuckler Castle in just a few days...  So, I decided to start a little early.  Have a colorful little outdoor party for myself, to celebrate the upcoming event... (may I add that, everyday in itself, is reason enough to throw yourself a party)

       Colorful_day_10_2

I am so in love with color!  Do you think I could convice a Swashbuckler to prance around in fun stripes or delicious polka dots?  Hmm, it might take some moonshine to get away with that one...

       Colorful_day_14_2

I must say, discovering a can of Design Master, Olive Bright #790, on my shelves, was more excitement than my little heart could contain!  It was enough to get me to Olive Brighten up a brass candelabra!!!

       Colorful_day_4_2

May I humbly add, that I made all of the ceramic treasures on this table...  Most of you know, I have been a potter at the Tucson Museum of Art for many years...  But, believe it or not, this is the very first time I have set the table, solely using my creations...

       Colorful_day_7_2

       Colorful_day_2_2

I best make sure to set a place for Miss Mouserson...  She would be terribly offended if I didn't...

       Colorful_day_6_2

Don't forget to set your table (as well as yourself) with lots and lots of ribbons.  Ribbons (or little strips of precious fabrics) make everything extra special...

       Colorful_day_9_3

       Colorful_day_11

Be sure not to miss all the lovely edible and rare treasures that might make their way here by way of a magic pirate ship (on Saturday)...

       Colorful_day_16_2

Can you imagine, that a green candelabra could spark such joy, and cause all this raucous...

       Colorful_day_13_2

I have been soaking up the lovely weather, and just indulging in thousands of flower petals...  I have been throwing them up in the sky...

       Colorful_day_19_2

And letting them rest upon my walkway...  Amazing really, how such a simple pleasure, can feel so decadent...

       Colorful_day_18_2

I had better be on my way...  Here I am dreaming and playing, when I have tons to do...  And paint!!

       Colorful_day_26_2

Especially with an almost perfectly healed leg!!!  We have to paint the town hot pink, chartreuse, yellow & teal!  Don't you think???

       Colorful_day_21_2

Oh and I almost forgot...  I have a new colorful Creature Collections, print in the shop.  I so thank Miss Holly Becker of Decor8, for featuring it!! (You can see it on her blog, if you scroll down to one of several 4/30/2008 posts)  That was a lovely surprise for me this week!!

       W_creature_collections_2

There will be siblings joining this piece soon.  I can't tell you how much I love white with brilliant splashes of color, and vintage love!

       Creature_collections_hanging_fron_2

I am excited to share what comes next in this series.  I am still working on more paper dress girls... And, like I said, the new dolls are 2 seconds away from complete...

       Colorful_day_1

See you, oh so sooooon!! xoxo, V

ps:  the photos in this post are funner if you click on them, to enlarge, as you go...

A Perfect day for Tea {hosted by Elves}

Dreamy days ensued this week, with a couple lovely visitors.  All bringing treats and floral magic, in the name of an Achilles' Tendon.  Which by the way is doing better than good.  I'll be done with this soon, I am making fantastic progress!! Thank Goodness, because I am getting all wiggy and restless...  Thank you ever so truly, for all your well wishes!!

What have I been doing with myself?  I have been having tea with elves, and creating new bright treats for my room (that I will share in my shop).  Also, I have been rearranging my furniture over and over (in my head).

Now, if you are having tea with elves, then perhaps you might have to bring tea with elves to life...

        W_tea_and_elves_at_the_manor

       W_tea_and_elves_at_the_manor_coral    W_tea_and_elves_elves_7

She & the elves have found their way into my shop.  And, may I hint that the items found on her walls, will find their way into the shop in 8"x10" size, very soon.

I have been having so much drawing and watching movies time.  And, well, can I tell you something, honestly?  I have not really minded being hurt, because, I have gotten to do really fun things.  Is that wrong?  ;)  I mean, movies, plus clay projects, plus drawing, plus treats and visitors?  It ain't so bad (at all)...  I know, I am a rotten horrible girl :)

One thing that did happen is that, I have this bright urge in my soul.  I have shared before that my original dance with Art was a very bright modern and even abstract one.  So, it never fails that, although I adore vintage and Victorian, Baroque and on and on in those realms...  I do crrrave bright and simple in other parts of my soul...

So, to encompass all my loves, I created some new treats for my walls.  But, then I thought?  Perhaps I should share them with you as well??  They fit 8" x 10" mat or frame openings...

       W_mirror_black_baroque_chair

       W_mirror_chartreuse_chair

       W_mirror_pink_birdcage

So, I am popping them in the shop as well...  I have framed mine.  Here is a side view...

       New_creations_1_2

I am obsessed with 11" x 14" mats with an 8" x 10" opening.  They make such a great size for hanging (or leaning).

I will show you a front facing view too, but, there is an annoying glare from my giant skylight....

       New_creations_2

So, that is all on the creative front for now.  The dolls are almost done, and I am working on a few new mixed media paper dress girls....

In real life news, this weekend is the 8th anniversary for me and Mr. Lovee (it is a two day long event).  So, I better be off soon, he is sitting in front of me, asking what I am doing...  Also, he is a leg sargeant, so, he is peddling the ice again...

But, I wanted to show you how our other rose bush is blooming...  And what it is offering us...

       Coral_rose

And, when they open, they are just lovely also...

       Coral_rose_2

Aren't flowers just the most magical things on the planet?  They constantly astound me...

       Precious_roses

Although, a picky garden can have its appeal too, can't it?

       Picky_garden

Oh, I almost forgot to tell you about my half a heart attack!  Yesterday, Mr. Lovee held out his arm so I could hobble out for a tiny walk.  I wanted to see the peaches in their very early stage...

       Peaches

When all of a sudden, I felt an odd sensation moving over my feet...  It was a creature that Mr. lovee assures is our friend.  He also assures that if I get bitten, it is not poisonous?  Can anyone confirm this?  Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek!

       Snake

I was not as horrified as I normally would have been, because this snake has been living in our yard for years.  He pokes his face out every now and then.  But he sure startled this girl...

Oh and Miss Niki!!  Send me your address!!  You won the postcard pack!!

       Berlini

You see, she gave our wee elfin his name, Berlini.  Oh all of you had such gooood names!!!  I thought of giving him one endless name...  But then of course, he would have this whole complex in a few years, and spend his entire adult life trying to get over his 42 name, name  :)

Well, I must be off.  I have over extended my weird leg postition on this machine.  Mr. Lovee is rigging up a leg rest for me, so I can make some visits this week!!  I am sorry I have not been very vocal, but I have read all of your comments and e-mails.  They bring out the most delightful overjoyed nutcake, in me!!!

See you soon!!!!  V

Parties & Postcards (new ones) & Crowns, Oh My!

Helloo, Howdy, Hola, Bonjour, Yasou! Wow, I don't know where that came from...  So it has been a wild and wildless couple of days.  But before I get into that, I need to tell you about a very exciting Swashbuckler Soiree.  Hosted by the ever lovely, hilarious, cheeky, wonderful Donna O'Brien! Hey, we get to wear those ever hip mustaches, don't we??  And bring swords?  Of course, we will need them to cut the massive cakes and such...  It is coming up soon, and I wanted to give you time to prepare for it!!

       A_swashbuckler_soiree

I plan on being there, untamed hair and all...  In my crown, proclaiming ownership of the world's tallest cupcake...  And, in Donna style of coming clean, I dare say, I mostly roam around the country, in 3 layers of prairie gowns, and wild unruly hair...

       Pirate_ball_1

Without my beloved 17 layers of mascara per eye.  Everything I own has a bit of paint on it here and there...  And I guess, sometimes, I might even look like a haggette :) But really, noone cares right?  You still like me, don't you? ;)

So with that, I have something else to say...  You see, I feel like such a silly girl, when I whine about my sniffles and my leg, and my cold and and and...  Annnnnd, I sure hope I don't sound like this annoying girl with an uber long list of sniffles and hurts.  As, I am a pretty healthy girl, but lately, I feel like I sound like poor me (which I detest)...  I just don't want to freak you out with my this and that...  I surely don't feel like a poor me at all.

So, I soooo thank you for the leg love.  But, because some have asked for news on that realm, the facts are that, I did see someone about it, and I did do some semi-serious damage to my Achilles' Tendon.  And, all I can do for now, is keep my leg up, iced, and do a few excersises with my leg.  It is not half as bad as it was the first 2 days.  And, I am doing marvelous hobbling around (but don't tell the sargeant caretaker, Mr.  Lovee, as he wants me to stay put!!).  But, in all seriousness, I am just fine :) (and I have learned not to run down stairs, with three large bags filled with stuff and hands full, while wearing wedges - what a numbskull)

But, just to play it safe, it looks like there won't be much of this around here for a couple of weeks...

         Tennis

But, my right leg, wouldn't miss a Swashbuckler Soiree for anything (thank goodness it is happening in bloglandia)!!!  So, we are already trying on outrageous over adorned shoes for the event...

       Pirate_ball_2

Lucky for me, my work doesn't require me to put on tap shoes and open the greatest show on earth every night for throngs of adoring fans (but wouldn't that be fun?).  So, my artwork won't be hindered at all... And, guess what???  I have a new postcard, which has already made it's way to the shop...

The Mime's Daughters Rehearse...

       W_the_mimes_daughters_rehearse_post

And I adooooore the backside.  I was just waiting to hear that this lovely pink was too much!!  But it wasn't, & it worked... Just make sure to use a fine tip Sharpie & you will be sending out the brightest postcard in the entire post office ;)

       W_the_mimes_daughters_rehearse_po_2

Alsooooo, I finally put a large postcard pack in the shop.  It incorporates 1 of each of my mixed media pieces that are available in postcard form...

       10_postcard_pack

So, that is fun news...

Oh! And I forgot to tell you that the canvas prints of "The Queen of the Carnivale," and "She dreamed of a faraway place," are also now in the A Fanciful Twist Shop...

       W_the_queen_of_the_carnivale

       W_she_dreamed_of_a_faraway_place

So, that is about all I got for ya for now.  OH wait, I am reminded.  Mr. Lovee wanted me to show you our new child (he actually wanted me to tell you about it ages ago, and I forgot).  My friend Ellyn Powers makes marvelous clay creatures!  And we now own one!  Isn't he adorable???

       Drawing_day_5

I will tell you what, if one of you comes up with a name for him, for us, we will send you a new 10 Postcard pack!  One of you must know his name???  Tell us, pllllease!!

Weellllllllllll, I guess I must be off... See you soon!! xoxo, V

ps:  I have also been asked a certain question several times, now, and am compelled to share.  It is about how I met Mr. Lovee...  click link below to keep reading...

I'm Back {with art too}

Hi!  Oh how I missed you all!  I am serious when I say that too!  So, the secret was... I had an art show.  I told a few artist friends about it, and they submitted their pieces to be juried into the show.  Thankfully, they all got in.  So, it was me and 3 artist friends (me in my gallery, them in tents).  The show was the twice a year artists studio tour.  There are about 16 locations with a few artists at each.  I happen to be one of the locations.

So, with that, we had to stop eating jelly beans and get ready for the show, like Pronto!  I had to do my girl's hair, dust...

       Jelly_bean_head_2_2

And, work like a mad woman to produce a few new pieces for the show.  That is why I was a bit hush about it.  I had no idea if I was going to pull it off with grace or be in my knickers while people showed up.  All the postcards didn't arrive until 5:45 p.m. on Friday.  The show was on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. - 5p.m.

       Show_5

It was madness as usual.  However, shows are funny little things.  First of all, you never know what kind of a show you are going to have.  Strange, wonderful, raw, magical...  You can hope for the best, and then whamo, nothing like you expected.  After much thought about this show, and much talk with my lovely friend, I have decided that this show was a combination of weird and wonderful :)  I don't know how to describe it any better.

       He_dreamed_of_that_dance_long_ago_4

I guess, it can be really emotional, opening your private little humble place to the real world.  But, I have to say, there was this one lady...  I will never forget her as long as I live.  She was wearing big star shaped earrings, and she was about 80 years old.  She was dressed very hip, and she stayed for a long time.  Looking up at each piece, and whispering lovely things to her husband who seemed just as interested in my work as she was.  She then gets ready to leave, and points at me with her right thumb and pointer finger, and says, "the world needs more people like you, because it can be a very dark place..." She then made this little sound, like clicking her teeth, and says "good job."  I just loved that.  It made the whole show for me...

Anyhow, the whole thing is over (until the next show in fall), and I can get back to my studio and back to here!!  Where it seems you guys had a ball without me!  Hee hee.  Oh, your comments on my cards made me feel welcome back home (home as in blogland home).  Annnnd, I will say, those cards were a hit all weekend.  I had to keep running inside to make more packages.  Good thing I ordered a ton of them...

Before I get to the drawing details, I wanted to tell you...  I will be putting a few new pieces from my show,  in my shop.  I am so in love with these pieces.  It is funny, the bonds we form with our creations.  You know, on Thursday, I felt sick pangs in my belly of sadness for missing the dolls who found new homes :)  I told Mr. Lovee, I am actually sad.  And, I guess I must have made a pitiful face because his eyes got all watery too, as I told him stories I had heard about the dolls and their new homes...

Anyhow, here are some of the new pieces that I will be putting in the shop...

The Queen of the Carnivale (I know, I am obsessed with the old fashioned carnivale, but who isn't? 20" x 20")

       Queen_of_the_carnivale_5

Wouldn't you just love to hear her voice??

       Queen_of_the_carnivale_2

I hear she can speak in a bird language.  Can you imagine?  She opens her mouth and speaks to birds in perfect chirps and song?

       Queen_of_the_carnivale_3

I don't think she would be willing to part with her head dress, but I sure would love one for myself (vintage mica flakes in the clouds)...

       Queen_of_the_carnivale_6

Our next girl, is so romantic and soooooo, umm, what is the word...  So dramatic and passionate about her feelings.  She has these dreams of a far away place...  An escape, a world she longs for...

"She dreamed of a far away place..." (18" x 24")

       She_dreamed_of_a_faraway_place

        She_dreamed_of_a_faraway_place_5_2

The background is a piece paper I purchased at a papier shoppe inTaos 4 years ago.  It has a map of Paris on it.  And the circles are vintage postcards I had from Rome.  The sparkles on her vintage dictionary page dress, are from my most beloved champagne colored vintage mica flakes...

       She_dreamed_of_a_faraway_place_2_5

       She_dreamed_of_a_faraway_place_4_2

The one below does not have a proper title yet, but for some reason, it felt like the male figure, was recalling a profound moment in his life.  One where he was entangled in his deep feelings of love and this overwhelming memory he had, or perhaps even a dream of a dance long ago...  (12" x 40")

                          He_dreamed_of_that_dance_long_ago_7

The figures, as in most of my work, are first drawn in pencil on cardstock, and then cut out.  I then prepare my canvas with all the layers, after which I glue on the figures, and then paint them and add paper dresses to the girls.  The hot air balloons in this piece were collaged on from a large sheet of Italian hot-air balloon paper...

       He_dreamed_of_that_dance_long_ago_8

       He_dreamed_of_that_dance_long_ago_9

       He_dreamed_of_that_dance_long_ag_10

So there you have it.  A few new pieces I will put in the shop this evening...

Okay, are you ready for the postcard set recipients??  By way of the random number generator we have 6  :)  Instead of 3.  I know, I am sooo tricky...  Make sure you e-mail me your addresses as soon as possible :)  Drum rolllllll.......(if you didn't have a link and you won, I e-mailed you...)

Janet, Beth, Polly, Nicole, Bari & Pam at, Little town big life...

Sooo!  That was way fun, wasn't it???  Okay, I am off to pop these new pieces in my shop!  See you all very soon!!!

ps:  I have been trying to post this for 4 hours and typepad was giving me major issues.  Anyone else with that problem?

Sneaking in...

Hi there!!  I am just sneaking in for a little hello and to share some new treats with you!!  You see, I have a huge event this weekend, and I am having some ladies over Saturday and Sunday...  So I am running around like a madwoman, trying to get everything done.  But, I really wanted to pop in and share these with you, and see what you think??? (little update below)

They are a few new postcards for my shop.  Now, there are two others that I won't share because the dye lots came in just atrocious and they are being re-made... But for now, we have.... (oh and these are nice thick satin postcards)

Miss Fungi Fairytale Girl (otherwise known as "She dreamed herself a Fungi Garden").

Front

       Fairytale_fungi_front

Backside

        Fairytale_fungi_backside_3

I can't wait to send some of these out.  I am going to choose a name at random from this post and send a little postcard sampler to that person.  So, don't forget to leave a comment...

The next postcard is of "Reverie."  But since she was so square in shape, I decided to make a fun background for her, and float her in the middle.  I am delighted with her...(can you tell the black border has music notes in it? tricky ;)

The next card uses one of my all time favorites, "A Peculiar Day."

And then, by popular demand, I turned "In the Chambers of the Sea," into a postcard as well...

I have also, reworked "The Curious Playroom," to have a little black border so that the image itself does not get distorted.  It looks like a little movie shot to me with the rounded black border.

So there you have it for now.  And they are in the shop.  I hate to run so quickly.  I would love to stay and play.  And tell you more about the Teeny Tiny Tea party winner.  But, I will next time, as this is just an impromptu hellllloooo!!!!

Don't forget to say "howdy" so I can put your name in a hat, and draw a name to receive a postcard sample with all the postacrds.  Not just these, but one of each postcard in my shop.

See you sooooon!!!  (Pleeeeaaase wish me luck in my weekend endeavors, I'll need it!!) ;)  xxoo, V

       Giveaway_message

An afternoon, deep in the gardens of Enchanted Cliff Manor... {+ shop update}

If you escape through the rounded door that sits in the towering stone wall, just at the edge of the lily pad pond, you might find yourself on the most exquisite span of earth ever created...  Where giant pale yellow flowers only bloom at night.  And beautiful toadstools fade from deep red to a tender shade of nectarine...

       Mushroom_table_set_4

If you find yourself brave enough to visit this place, you must first convince a male member of your party, to cut down some of the Jasmine that almost blocks the fact that a door does sit in said wall.  When this door is opened, you will feel as though you are simply bursting forth.  Happily thrust out of the restraints of modern early 19th century life, and into the indulgent realm of freely roaming the wild overgrown outskirts, of the grounds at Enchanted Cliff Manor.

And, you will most certainly find the evening blooming flowers, and tender glowing miniature canary flowers, that are a vivid part of children's fairytales in this land...

On a perfect afternoon, as the sun started to fade, in a time, not so long ago, a party of 7, decided to have a tea party in this slightly forbidden place...  It was a magical night...

       Group_in_the_garden

You see, they were guests at cliff manor.  They travelled with a theater (carnivale/circus) company, and were taking the place of another party of 7 that had just left to perform in the gold rush land... They were a courageous group, and had no qualms about escaping for an evening tea party outside of the protected grounds.  They found it romantic and terribly exhilirating...

Tea time girl was the most prepared.  She was a truly impressive girl.  Holding all the qualities that were esteemend and glorified by societies most critical...  She was also a beauty....  But besides that, she was easy to love, due to her simple & humble approach to life...

       Tea_time_girl_2

She carried tea cups on her head, and a tea pot that she handpainted herself, along with a decadent piece of the most exquisite gateaux found in that part of the north country...

A large pitcher of the most amazing flowery jasmine tea, laced with edible flowers and tender mint leaves, was brought by the lovely Duchess of Avian-falls.

       The_duchess

Oh She was a delightful woman indeed.  You see, she was given the title of Duchess by a man she married through a contract that her father made.  They were married on paper (and had not yet met).  Her new husband, the Duke, was making his way on a ship from East Asia, to join her.  He was a procuror of extravagant tea.  Much to his families chagrin (they had other plans for him, being Duke and all).

Anyhow, The Duchess was sent a locket that held the Duke's photograph.  And, dare I say, this was to be the most loveliest match in all of arranged marriages.  He was a beautiful man.  Serious and kind, all at once.  He had a charm in his eyes that melted the Duchesses heart.  And, he had already written her 3 letters that hinted at his romantic nature.

Sadly, 2 days before his ship was to dock, and the Duchess would greet her husband... The ship was attacked by pirates.  And, the Duke was never heard of again.

       The_duchess_2

You can imagine what this did to The Duchess?  Well, I'll tell you, she created a vision in her mind, that The Duke had survived and had floated to an island in Fiji.  Where he ate exotic fruit, and was fanned all day by women of the Island.  She hoped that for him.  That he had lived & was happy... She could not bear the thought that he was held captive by pirates, or worse, eaten by a shark.

As for her...  After some time, she was just fine.  Although her heart would hold a deep crack forever, she was lovely by nature.  And it helped, that The Duke had left her a beautiful home that had the most amazing aviary, right by a waterfall.  She lived there with servants for a few years...  Until a man came knocking at her door.

       Carnivale_man_5

He was a man who owned the most amazing Old time Circus Carnivale in history.  His caravan was passing through, and they spotted her lovely expansive land.  They wanted to ask if they might be able to set up on her land... Just for a week or two.

       Carnivale_man_3

Being in a lonely state, and quite desperate for visitors, The Duchess obliged.  And as they say, the rest is history.  For, after a mere day or so, The Duchess found her calling.  She had a secret trick, you see.  She would carry her three most beloved blue birds with her, and sing the most hauntingly beautiful tunes alongside them.

When the Carnivale keeper heard this, he was speechless.  He decided they should change their show a bit, and build a beautiful Theater for her to perform in on the road (if she would join them, that is)...  Of course, The Duchess didn't think twice about it.  She kisssed her servants good-bye, left them enough gold to last a few years, and hit the road with the Carnivale...

Amogst the group was a young girl, quite lovely indeed.  She could turn any grain into the most scrumptious flour for making her heavenly pies.  She made all sorts of pies.  Fruit pies, savory pies, potato pies...  You name it, she baked it.  While her pies were baking, people could not help following the scent to her doorstep.  They smelled like a food of the Gods.  It was like no scent anyone had ever inhaled.  She loved baking for the performers...

       Baker_girl

The scent of her pies baking, was thought to be an enchanted scent...  But, only The Pie girl herself will ever know the truth... ;)

Having a way to speak through her pies was wonderful for Pie girl. You see, she was very very very shy.  She hardly ever showed a change in her expression, or uttered a word.  That is, unless she was alone or with the trusted few.  Then her smile shone like rays of light passing through a dewey rainbow...

(Back to the garden)  Just as the tea group was getting ready to close the door to have their voyage into the "other side" of the garden, Miss Polka Dot Cake Girl emerged.  She was racing along, shouting, oh please, please, wait for me....  She was a funny girl.  She was graced with lips that looked so plump and full and pouty, that her true character was always mistaken...

       Polka_dot_cake_plate_girl

She was such a charming girl.  She was just learning the performing ropes, as her mother was the ever admired and respected, Story-teller Woman.  But this young girl had other wonderful traits.  She helped sew beautiful gowns & costumes for the performers.  And, she helped organize glorious tea parties, while perfecting her Strawberry and Vanilla Cake... Yumm Yummmmm...

The Story-teller woman held court to hundreds of wee munchkins.  Yes, the children inhabiting whatever town they were visiting next.  She held the key to the stories hidden in the attic of a magical place...  Oh, she was so delightful.  She had a chuckle deep in her belly, that you couldn't help but be forced to join in with, when you heard it...

       The_storyteller

She had such a way with words, that she would have you sitting there, mouth agape, entranced by her incredible stories.  She was never at a loss for words, and seemed to have fairytales growing in her heart...  As there was always a new one, more fantastic that the last...   She sat in gardens so often, telling stories, and bringing new ones to life in her head, that she even had two perfect green mushrooms growing amogst tiny tender pieces of moss, in her dress...

       The_storyteller_4

Now all 6 of these friends, made it their mission to take such good care of one of their most beloved performers.  This wee girl, had the most tried and true form of gumption a creature could ever hope for.  For a snail that is...

       Snail_girl_9

She had people travelling from all over the world to get a peek at her at the shows.  People could not believe their eyes.  A real snail girl???  Snail girl herself would assure, "I am not the only snail person alive..." Hmmmm.... What does that tell us?

       Snail_girl_4

And, you must know... Snail girl enjoyed the trip outside the Manor's walls, more than anyone could ever imagine...

       Snail_girl_2

Isn't she just so adorable?  I am so in love with her.  I hold her up to my ear, and she fills my head with stories ;) (she has a red and white mushroom with a few tinypieces of moss tucked into each one of the buns in her hair)

Anyhow, if you can guess what I am leading up to...  It is to let you know, I am popping all these characters in the A Fanciful Twist shop, this afternoon/Evening.  After this blog post, I will take a tea break and then head over to the shop and fill it with these new friends, plus other treasures...

       Shop_update

I know, a bit impromptu of me.  However, I just didn't know when I was going to finish all of these.  Each one takes forever to make.  Especially since I build a bustle on them and then build the dresses out of paper... It takes a loooong time....  Then the hair, and well, you get the point....  But they are a labour of love, and are eager to go on new voyages...

Also, the giant mushroom is about 5" in diameter and was created as a little picnic table with 4 mushroom stools....  So it is a little table set in my eyes...

       Mushroom_table_set_9

And the color is really fun in person.  It fades from red to nectarine...  And this little table set, includes Miss Snail girl...  Extra Fun!!!

       Mushroom_table_set_6

And, it has some realistic ridges and is decorated with real moss...

       Mushroom_table_set_10

See, there are owl and elf boy, showing you how comfy the mushroom table set is :)  or you can use it any way you wish.. Also, the news around here is that Faun Boy is missing...  Hey, Pam, where's faun boy????

       Tea_set_white

So there you have it, a few treaaures...

       Tea_set_white_6

Making their way from this little maker, to whomever would like to have a little magic grace their lives...  Found right here, in my Etsy Shop...  (after a break, I need tea first!!)

       Tea_set_white_4

Distressed teeny tiny tea cups, make me happy.  I have tiny pinkies, so, you can imagine how little those cups are ;)

Off we go..

       On_stage_3

See you soon, xoxo V

ps:  I love Dustin O'Halloran, and I write and dream and draw to much of his work... But, I'd like to think, that this is what happened to the Duchess' lost Duke...  My 3 hugest obsessions - piano's, hot air balloons, & mermaids are involved, perfection.

A lovely St. Patrick's Day...

For the first time in a few years I won't be going to a local Irish pub for lunch and small (teeny tiny) sips of green beer (I am not a beer sipper, but a little green taste every other year is ok).  However, I will be having green cake with The Duchess... (much more up my alley)

       The_duchess_saint_patricks_day

Oh, don't forget the green tea.  And, we will resume our bickering (the Duchess and I).  You see, I have fallen in love.  A man has come into my life and the Duchess just can't handle it.  He is so charming and, ooo, he makes me all giddy.  Butterflies I tell ya, bu-tter-fliiiies.  Noone has made me that butterfly-ie since Brian Ferry in the 80's (although, there were other 80's loves as well).  I know I know, nasty gross awful.  Everyone freaks out about this (I hope there isn't something terrible about Brian that I don't know, which might not want me to admit to this 80's love, hee hee,).   I also still like saxophones for romantic effect and bad keyboard sounds.  I am stuck in a time warp. Please leave me here.  I am all cozy, you will disrupt my brain cells if you try to tell me it is not 1987, 1887, 1907, 1927,1787.  Love all those dates :)

Okay, moving right along...  So, the new man.  Yes, he is wonderful and marvelous!  He is charming and handsome.  I won't tell you who I think he is a cross of between.   But you can guess if you'd like.  So, the Duchess and I are bickering over this because, she is in love with him too!  He runs an old fashioned carnival.  Which is kind of like a cross between a circus and a carnival.  He also has a brother!  Who is coming to visit in 24 hours...

Here is my new heart-throb...(along with two new girls who will be in the shop this week)

       The_carnivale

He and his brother are the first gentlemen to enter our realm.  Oh goodnes, faun boy is throwing a fit.  I mean, they are not the first, faun boy is.  You know what I mean...  Oh, and did I tell you about his shiny red boots?  They are so dreamy...

       The_carnivale_2

You see, The Duchess has this plan of how she will snatch his heart.  She thinks up unusual ways.  Today she baked a 13 layer cake.  Hmph...  She might win ;)

       The_carnivale_3

I will be putting these three plus lots of other sculpted treasures in my shop this week.  I am hoping for Wednesday.  But, I will do a blog post on all of them, before they go into the shop.  I was hoping to have them in today, alas, all the details on each piece, plus pinky-tip sized tea accoutrements have caused me to fall behind.  I am so in love with these characters.  They are all chatter, stories galore...

You know, for Saint Patrick's day, we wanted to visit with you in the garden.  We had the loveliest week, all kinds of citrus ready to be savored...

       Spring_12

It was in the 80's here all week.  I collected fruit from my garden, and a friend gave me some other treasured limequats.  I washed them in the garden, getting ready to make marmalade.

       Spring_11

I washed batch after batch, and then enjoyed every minute of dropping them to dry.  It felt so springy, so green, so warm, perfect for today's post...

       Spring_13

The peach tree is blooming its tender beautiful pink flowers...

       Spring_3

I just love these little flowers.  Fruit trees are just so amazing, aren't they?

       Spring_5

I dragged my gown in the garden...

       Spring_7

And stopped for tea amidst a patch of tiny yellow wild flowers...  Claire de Lune, playing softly in the background..

       Spring_6

What a beautiful magical week...  Who could ask for anything more? Yummy days...

       Spring_8

Our friend got all his tenants coolers working.  He was so proud of himself, de-winterizing them and all.  We were proud of him too.

I picked daisies, and inspected our oranges...

       Spring_2

Are you jealous?  Are you wishing you lived in Arizona?  I'll tell you what...  You won't be after you hear this ;)  This is what happened today (below).  And, it is snowing as I type... WHAT?  No wonder I am insane!!  And, what about my poor friend?  Who gave all his tenants A/C?  Poor guy :)  I don't know the status, but I am sure he is working hard right now to remedy the good thing turned cold.

       Ice_on_leaves

What in the world just happened?  It was like, the earth was warm and wonderful, and then the Snow Queen took over... I tell ya, incredible, unreal, unusual weather we have...  Good for me, I LOVE snow.  I hope it sticks!!

And, good thing, I captured Spring last week!  So we could have a warm Springy, lovely day.  For Green Tea and Green Cake...

Also a perfect day for sharing Shamrock Brooches made by our friends... (E-mail me if you made these and you want me to add you, sorry if I missed anyone)

Miss Karla at Sugar Bear Designs made these lovelies!  She has a beautiful blog!  Thank you Miss K, I used your photo...

                   Sugar_bear_designs_2

Miss Ruth made some wonderful centerpieces out of hers.  Aren't they precio
