There was a girl who spoke to bees. Not to be confused with the girl who spoke to geese. (Although, an interesting concept to say the least)
She understood them, and they her...
One day, she wandered through the wilderness, in search of her friends, the honey bees. She hid in a tree, and peered through a tree hole, waiting to surprise them when they came buzzing along...
She waited for what seemed like ever so long, yet her delicately winged friends didn't seem to be anywhere in sight. She climbed out of the tree, and sat in between some tree roots that cradled her ever so perfectly. She started to drift to sleep, when she heard the enchanting sound of bee wings in the distance.
She sat up...
One large plump bee, buzzed hello. She sat perplexed, wondering where the others were. She asked Mister Bee, who said he didn't know. He also said that little by little, less and less bees joined him in flight, until, this solitary bee was left to fly alone.
She pondered the situation....
She realized, there were fewer and fewer bee friendly buds in bloom. So, she vowed, to always wear fresh flowers in her hair, for any bees she saw passing by...
Yes, that was a perfect idea thought the bee girl, otherwise known as Stella Primrose Hawthorn. Funny enough, the Hawthorn flower is known to symbolize hope. Hope for the bees perhaps?
Stella spent 2 days in my garden, remarking at what a good job we were doing to help keep the bees a flutter. With water sources like fountains and dog pools, and lots of native flowering plants...
We sang a beautiful tune called Wilderness, as we watered the garden in billowing gowns and visited with all the bees. It was a delightful time.
Stella wanted me to remind you about something...
There are ways you can help the bees... There is a website with lots of tips and a PDF download with all sorts of things you can do in your garden to help the honey bees.
www.helpthehoneybees.com/ - go to the section called "How you can Help." After you click on the link, click under the garden picture, on the words "Dig In" for more details and a PDF. Don't those bees at the website, flying with little signs just make you want to hug them? Thanks to Raspberry Sorbet addictions, I found all this out right on my Haagen-Dazs container...
Plants for honey bees, yes, what a good thing indeed. Each one of us can do a little, and make a huge difference...
Now, I think it's time for me to go play a tune or two - for the bees of course, on my antique pump organ. It looks different but sounds a bit like this.
Free Mother's Day cardlettes made by me, in printable PDF form, can still be found by clicking here...
Have a beautiful Mother's Day if I don't see you before then!! ♥ ♥ ♥
