We interrupt the planned broadcast for a true tale of weekend life.
You see, we found out on Friday that our little road was being opened up - trenches, lots and lots of workers and big machines and endless cars and trucks - coming to put in all new gas lines for the next few days.
Yay?
All day Friday guys came and went, measuring, planning.
Eating, laughing talking.
Matty on high alert patrol.
(goodness that makes me more than happy, and relieved)
Annoying to us lovers of silence and peace and no people wanted on our little street.
But, hey, a little activity every now and then is fun.
That was, until I was hand-washing crochet stuff with bleach and the water turned off.
I had to go get water out of the dog pool to rinse my hands.
:)
Luckily, I had just washed the dog pool out that morning, and filled it fresh.
All our water stashes have been used in the recent warm weeks.
None on hand (note to self, save water for such happenings).
I ran outside only to see about 30 guys down the street, staring at the ground.
Yep, they were looking at the water line they had just hit.
Hello flooded street.
Out here at the country house, a few properties (and us) share a well.
The well water is tested monthly, good stuff, and one neighbor checks meters and does the billing.
Lucky for us, he had the proper pipes on hand and fixed it all up.
But then, the gas line guys refilled the hole, and didn't put soil under the pipe first before filling the trench in.
Genius.
So, today, the pipe burst again.
Luckily, I had a fresh water stash.
Point of this tale?
Mister Lovee and another neighbor went out to dig up the hole, so the other neighbor could fix the line again.
They worked so hard.
So.
I hired a helper.
You know, to deliver water.
And get this, he works for food.
Treats, that is ;)
Animals always amaze me.
How smart they are.
I LOVE tales of people's creatures and all the awesome things they do.
I could sit for hours and just listen to people talk about their furs.
I love how when I pass houses, I identify them by the furs.
Like, the wild 10 dog house.
Or the horse, pig and two shepherds house.
Or, Sandy across the street.
And, Turtle and Lacey down the way.
Both of my lady neighbors have moved, and with them went lots of furs.
Sniff.
I just love fur tales.
So, after all that.
Here's a tiny tale for you.
I asked Miles if he would take water bottles down to the guys digging.
Lovee was down there digging, so I said...
"Miley, can you take this water to daddy?"
(yes, we refer to Lovee as daddy, my uncle mocks us all the time, I know)
He delivers the paper every morning, still.
Down the driveway he goes, early every day.
What a guy.
So, he knows how to do the delivery thing, only he has never delivered bottled water down the road.
(he will tear the mail out of your hand if you don't hand it to him to be delivered, when you open the mailbox)
So, as for water delivery.
I opened our gate and off he went...
He looked back a couple of times, and then when he realized it was his human down there, he shot off.
Making those water deliveries, one bottle at a time.
YAY!
What a guy!
He went back and forth.
Delivering those water bottles.
And ran back so happy, he could hardly contain himself.
My furs have taught me so much.
I have learned that, the only barriers they have to doing things, are the ones I put on them.
Baby taught me ever so so much.
And I have implemented all my new-found knowledge on these boys.
Miles learned tricks and things very quickly.
You show him once and he gets it.
But I hadn't taught Matty many a few years ago.
Then, back then I found out, Matty knew all the tricks too.
Shaking and all that.
Of course he hugs on command.
Point is...
A huge lesson for furs, for life, for me.
Boundaries are barriers we create.
But we are free to break through any time.
If we let ourselves.
Boy I learn from them.
Now, I need to burst out of my own boundaries big time!!
;)
Pppppppleeeeease tell me some of your fur tales.
Please please?
I LOVE fur tales.
I wonder if I can teach them to call 911 in an emergency?
I love those tales of dogs that save their owner's life who like, fell hiking or something.
Big tales, little tales, silly tales, happy tales, sad tales, wonderful tales, simple tales.
I want to know, link if you'd like.
Who are/were the furs in your life?
Love, V
ps: I will tell you one more fur tale.
When I was a baby my parents bought this red brick house, that looked like a gingerbread house.
My mom had mushroom wallpaper and orange counter tops put in.
She loves that house still, and wishes she still owned it.
It had a huge library, filled with books.
(That is an eerie story, I will tell you another time)
So, we lived in this house.
And one day this gorgeous big white Persian cat turned up.
It followed my mom around, and my mom could not figure out who it belonged to.
So, she let it stay.
It would sit by me in my baby carrier and take care of me.
Honest.
And, one day, my mom was walking down the hall, and heard someone in the bathroom.
And, it was the cat, using the toilet.
Sitting on the actual toilet, tinkling.
Can you believe it?
So, my mom got really close to this cat, and she would ask it to watch me, and if I cried let her know, and the cat would.
One day the cat, my mom and me were in the front yard, and a little girl visiting the front door neighbor went crazy yelling, "That's my cat, that's my cat!!!"
She lived about 10 miles away or more, in a whole different neighborhood.
So, her dad came over and said, this is our cat, we want it back.
My parents tried to buy the cat, and they said no way Jose.
So, off went the cat.
A week later, the cat was back at our house.
This went on, back and forth, until finally, the people de-clawed the cat, and kept it inside.
My mom always missed that cat.
