We are being extra good around here.
Practicing our proper tea party skills.
Lemon snaps included.
Everyone goes bonkers as Matty gets a treat from auntie.
Douglas wants one too, you can so tell.
He looooves food.
His fave thing?
Red bell peppers.
Weird, I know.
We practice in the morning, in the evening.
Tiny sips too.
Of course, you have to share with poor ole Beethoven.
I swing like mad in crazy heat.
Prairie skirt in the wind.
We are under heat advisory.
It's hot.
But swinging whilst eating popsicles is one of my most fave things.
Pumpkin vines are growing madly with this renewed heat.
So exciting!
I looove the flowering leeks and onions.
The flowers always remind me of a tuft of pearls.
The garden was moving a bit slow.
And since I plant everyone from seed, it can seem slower.
I think also, it is because we had such very chilly nights for an oddly long while this spring.
Now the heat seems to have woken everyone up.
Super dog leaps into the veggie garden when the main gate is closed.
Fighting rodentia danger.
He is such an incredible jumper, not hitting the fencing at all.
Lifting his hind legs just in time.
One of my fave things is to see him jumping.
The bats have turned up for the summer.
At sunset they fly around as Matty goes crazy running around trying to catch them.
I don't think he knows that he doesn't have wings.
The best thing I saw?
I saw a cotton candy mermaid cloud plunge into the bluest Cinderella sky.
Crescent moon included.
She started to dissipate as I ran for my camera.
But you can kind of see her up there still.
Diving into her mermaid sky.
I caught a magical glimpse of the cottage during that same sunset.
It was actually the reflection of the cottage in a window.
I almost expected Anne of Green Gables to be laughing in the distance.
Or Nanny McPhee to fade into focus holding her bag and cane.
Love those fairy light nights.
I make evening pizzas.
(you can find my pizza dough recipe here)
One was everything veggie and the other was an experiment gone good.
I minced fresh garlic and put it in about a half cup of olive oil.
When my dough was ready, I coated it in the garlic olive oil.
Then I super duper thinly sliced baby potatoes, and layered them over the garlic olive oil.
I sprinkled about a cup of fresh mozzarella around and dusted the whole thing in finely chopped fresh rosemary.
Oh my!
Sooo good.
And now...
We continue to practice.
Anything for an excuse to get to those lemon snaps.
They smell like an old fashioned bakery.
Sooooo delightful.
I think I spent a little too much time in the heat yesterday.
I am just getting over a bit of a day long heat headache etc.
I drink tons of water by default, but you have to be careful in that desert heat.
What is the weather serving up in your neck of the woods?
I love weather.
I am not sure why, but I do.
Looove, V
