Hello my friends♡
I hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving.
I've been so busy painting, doing projects, upcycling furniture, hosting my own little Thanksgiving, cooking up a storm...
You know how life can get so busy like that.
One thing that has happened is that torrential winds & at least 30 power outages in one night have brought a shift in the weather, the kind of shift that completely changes the vibe of life.
Cozy blankets, candlelight, baking, warm home, fluffy coat - all the most lovely things.
The light changes, the mood changes.
A soft gentle beauty finds its way in.
We had so many laughs and lovely times at this dinner table last night.
Right now I am writing to you from my phone & sending you phone pics because it's so chilly & rainy, & in a fluffy cozy bed is just the place to be after 17 hours of cleaning & cooking♡
The wind was intense last night, arbors are down & huge tree limbs too. The weather kept me up & so today I enjoy some extra lounging time.
One thing I've been thinking about lately is how wonderfully fulfilling things can come out of hard work & how we often forget that.
Like preparing a Thanksgiving feast for loved ones.
But also, in tackling projects instead of just starring at them for months (or years). I had a few projects I wanted to do but couldn't really jump in for whatever reason.
In the last few weeks I have tackled those projects I longed to do, just plunged in - & while they were tedious, the joy they have brought me is incredible.
I keep reminding myself of the good that comes out of a little extra hard work, just going that extra mile makes all the difference.
The funny thing is, once you begin your projects, you sort of spark an inner flame & are inspired to keep doing other things on your list. It's the craziest thing - but it's a lot like creativity...
Taking the first step is always the hardest, but once you begin the inspiration comes.
The inspiration actually finds you while you are creating. Such magic right there♡
If we can only take that first step.
The reward is amazing.
I've learned to create the change you want in your life - no matter how big or small, don't ask anyone what they think, just do what you want in your heart. That's what I've learned.
Be true to yourself♡
I learn & relearn this through my journey here, in this curious place of life.
Somehow, painting a cabinet that was burning on my to do list, has led me to completing a ton of other projects that are bringing me so much joy.
Up & down ladders, painting everything.
But all it took was that one first step.
Mister Miagi teaching wax on wax off makes perfect sense now. Remember that? Do this step that will have meaning & value to come, right?
The next thing on my list is to add new card designs to my shop which are here from the printer♡
But for now, there's cozy tea & packaging some orders, holiday season here we come.
Let's work to stay mindful in the midst of this crazy month to come♡
Thankful always.
Lots of love,
Vanessa
