Hello December, and hello friends!
I finally got some baubles twinkling up my house, after being so crazy busy the last month.
I got really busy a few days before Thanksgiving, and then it just never let up.
Cooking, cooking, cleaning, cooking, birthday soiree, etc etc :-)
The weather has turned very chilly, there is snow on the mountain, and the holiday season is finally here.
All the little events I hosted for family have come & gone, and now it's making last minute gifts in front of the fire kind of days.
Well almost, as I'm happily shipping orders and making a few art pieces, still.
My little 5.5 foot tree I hand flocked a decade ago is still holding up.
I do love a really vintage/antique sort of tree, dripping in tinsel.
Of course, I love a simple tree as well.
I didn't put up all my smaller trees, but this guy below got really dolled up with all my favorite ornaments.
I put it up in the same spot as last year, mainly because I really enjoyed the ambience next to the fireplace.
This tree really doesn't look that small in person.
It was supposed to be a 6 footer, but really it's 5.5, which is perfect for me.
I just need a step ladder to do the top.
I made oodles of ribbons with vintage pink velvet, and found my package of old school silver tinsel.
My antique tinsel tree below, always makes me so happy.
Truth be told...
I put him away covered in baubles every year.
Then all I have to do is pluck him off the shelf, unwrap, and place.
Easy easy, I love it!
My Christmas branch is in a giant ancient urn, and I just placed some glittered stars and snowflakes on it this year.
It's all aglow, so wonderful, especially on these unusual cloudy days we're having in the land of sun.
I'm loving this weather so much.
It feels really Christmasy.
Here are a few close ups of my tree for you.
All the little cuties, bringing me joy.
The baubles of the holiday season really make the days feel so twinkly and cozy, don't they?
Giant urn looks really light and festive in person, although really hard to photograph.
Trays of dried flowers are always everywhere.
It's inevitable, what with the endless garden blooms and all.
And so, we turn on the candles, light the fire...
Plug in the fairy lights, kick up our feet, and sip a hot drink in front of the warmth.
Can you believe it's this time of the year again?
It comes so quickly, it's all a blur to me most of the time.
I need to make some time to be still.
However, I will confess that I've been working on some really detailed clay sculptures to share in my shop.
I hope I can finish them today, there have been so many steps and layers to dry.
I've been working on them the last couple of weeks, maybe in the next 2 days I can get them done.
I hope you are well, I'm sorry I fell off the planet.
I juggle so much at once, sometimes it just happens.
Is it super chilly where you are?
Or maybe spring turning to summer?
I hope to be back in a couple days with pics of my sculptures.
Stay cozy wherever you are, and let me know how you are doing, won't you?
Love, Vanessa
