Greetings from the tiny cottage friends!
I have been having the most lovely few days at the country house.
Many of you who have been here for the long 15 years of me blogging know all about the tiny house.
I think Mister Lovee built it for me in 2009?
There's a post buried somewhere in this blog about the building of it.
It's hidden in the garden, a darling little place...
It's not quite a she shed, and not quite a home.
It's not the actual country house, it's a playhouse for a grown girl.
But it could be a house house, because Mister Lovee and a builder built it to be fully livable.
With good insulation, fully finished inside, with electricity, air conditioning and water to the cottage.
Mister Lovee always has said, if you ever need to live in it, you can, and also, you can move it if need be.
Which I hope never to have to move it for any reason, but it's an actual livable tiny house.
I use it as my little garden retreat.
It's filled with all sorts of treasures I love, some are even from my childhood.
It's super cozy, with two wood beams going across the pitched ceiling and a loft to sleep in, which is extra suuuuper cozy.
I have all matter of tchotchkes that I have been collecting for years stuffed in here.
Of course books, and a few little creepy things too.
The "be warned" box is the most interesting.
I purchased it about 20 years ago from a hole in the wall antique store.
The kind of place that truly carries very old and rare items.
This was supposedly thought to be one of these curious art pieces, that an artist back in the day would make, and leave here and there around New York City.
However, they were known to explode!
The seller wasn't 100% sure that is what it was, but it's curious enough.
Thanks heavens it has not exploded, yet.
I hope it never does :-)
So many tales I could share.
But, here we are today, just enjoying the moment.
With the cottage changing from season to season.
The vegetation changes because, well you know all about the darned gophers.
They eat my plant roots, and I lose trees, bushes, flowers.
I just replant, and so it changes.
And of course, with the weather, everything changes.
It gets extra green here during monsoon season, and the garden paths turn truly fairy tale like.
Mister Lovee went out of his way to build the ladder to the loft you see in the mirror below.
He wanted the pitch of the stairs to be less angled than a normal loft ladder (to save space).
So, he had to build each stair individually, and each stair is at a different pitch to make it safe and comfortable to climb up.
Isn't that so clever?
It was quite a project that I thank him for often.
There are so many wonderful details he put into the cottage, little secret things that I love.
And now of course, it is our favorite time ever.
The time when pumpkins make their way out of our pumpkin patch, and into the cottage.
The light changes, it was plum chilly this morning.
So much so that I wore a cardigan.
You forget all about cardigans when it's hot for over 120 days.
And then one day, without warning, you need one at 6 a.m.
I am happy as a lark in my little space here.
There's no place I'd rather be.
I live out my childhood dreams as an adult, that's for sure.
Well, I best be off because I have so may things I would like to do today.
And I need to go check my other garden as well.
I made a berry crisp and homemade tortillas yesterday.
Teddy learned how to jump on the bed for the first time.
Matty is snoring as I type.
All is well at this very moment in time.
Lots of well wishes your way, hope you are having a lovely day.
5 more days until autumn, yippeee!
Love, Vanessa
See you soooon!
