Cozy December is here, and I can hardly believe it.
It's so chilly and festive these days.
I love lighting my candles in the evening and making a heap of books to enjoy.
The evening light is so curious, filled with cool shadows and warm candlelight.
A couple gals from my antique China doll collection like to take part in the cozy reading evenings.
Many years ago I started doing this thing, where I pretend that I am on vacation in the evening.
That no worries exist, and that I am free of any responsibilities until the next day.
I've done it for so long, that it has become second nature, and it really allows me to enjoy and relax.
It gives you the opportunity to refuel your soul.
I get so excited when evening rolls around and the last light streams in.
A let out a happy sigh and say, relaxation time is here.
I grab a hot cup of tea, light my candles, put on some music.
I gather my books, or often go into the little sitting room off of my bedroom, where I like to paint, and work on a little something.
But I almost always begin with books.
Little wreaths are turning up here and there, and I am rereading and rewatching Little Women for the 10 thousandth time.
(90's version of film)
Which I often do in December.
It's just the most perfect wintery mood vibe and so very dear to my heart.
And when daylight is nearly gone...
I bask in the joy of my vacation evening.
Cuddling up in my cozy bed, swooning over fairy tales.
Dreaming up stories of my own, which I have stacked up in my mind and on paper.
Someday I will do something with them, I hope.
Others I've recorded into a little recording machine I have.
December is a special month to me.
Not just because I was born in the month of Christmas...
But because a lot of my coziest memories happen in this month.
Lanz flannel nightgowns, flickering lights, cutting out snowflakes.
Making gifts, baking gingerbread.
It's a very good and lovely month.
I've been on many walks lately with the boys, in a giant fluffy pink scarf, cold wind on my cheeks.
So nice to walk in chilly weather.
Clouds are forming for a rainstorm right now, and it is very dark at 9 a.m. as I type.
I have lit the fireplace, and I will put on the daily porridge next.
Oh, loud thunder is ringing out just now.
Time to put on the kettle.
I hope you are well dear friends!
Welcome December and all of its magic.
I will see you soon.
Love,
Vanessa
ps: I have been enjoying listening to this almost every day <3
