Of Halloween Magic and Fanciest Frocks

Hello and welcome to our Halloween soirée.

We are setting the table for our yearly festivities, with costumes and sparkles aplenty.

Owl wanted to have center stage and some of our old favorites came out for the mysterious festivities.

I made a few more sculptures for the night of tricks and treats.

We have made scrumptious delights, such as caramel apples and buttery witch fingers.

This evening we have given a nod to one of our favorite fairy tales, albeit the Halloween version.

With fancy gowns and pumpkin carriages.

As well as Cinderella's little mouse friends.

Don't forget to light the black flame candle...

As little pirates and friendly spiders begin to arrive.

Masks are always welcome, as well as sashes of sparkly stars.

Spooky offerings, owl candles and always candy corn, adorn the table.

Would you believe that the real pumpkin I made last year, with pearled golden insects, waited the whole year to attend the party again?

It's still in perfect condition.

Now that is some kind of real magic!

We are dancing about, as we toss sparkles into the air.

Overjoyed for one of our favorite times of the year.

Delectables and cute faces are waiting for you to jump in.

We hope you brought your fanciest frock!

Before the night poofs away.

And carriages turn into pumpkins once again.

What fun we have had celebrating a Cinderella Halloween.

There's so much magic brewing at this time of the year.

It fills our little hearts with a glee we can not begin to describe.

We intend to dance the night away, carve our Jack-o-Lanterns and make spiced punch.

I have caramel corn crackling in the oven and candy apples boiling on the stove.

I hope you enjoy the day and do a twirl or two in your living room.

I must run because my sister is here for our Halloween party.

We've been up to so much mischief, I can't even tell you.

It's wonderful to have a sister who loves Halloween as much as I do.

Into Wonderland for our annual Mad Tea Party

If you followed the white rabbit, then you have for certain found yourself at our 2023 Mad Tea Party.

Alice in Wonderland awaits your arrival at her table.

With ruffles and teacups and old friends galore.

And treats to make you taller or shorter, whichever you fancy.

Under golden hour light, right before afternoon turns into night, we meet up on a warm afternoon in the garden.

Mad Hatter enticing you...

To sip from the bottle of stars, his own concoction you see.

As oldest book pages flutter open, beckoning you to join in.

As you enter into a place of most absolute fairy tale magic.

With keys and locks, hares and mushrooms...

And a white rabbit that implores you to not be late!

You are served at a fanciful tea-time, on antique Limoges porcelain of pink and gold.

Golden hour beaming in with such delight, as we pour your favorite tea.

A perfect cup...

A little milk, with one lump or two?

I'm certain it's a magical brew, as you immediately begin to dance and twirl...

Whilst selecting a delectable treat.

Would you like a slice of chocolate raspberry gateau?

Or perhaps you fancy something more like a chiffon queen cake?

Whatever you choose will be lovely I'm certain...

Your friends absolutely agree.

What could be better than tea-time with the Wonderlanders?

Pink hair Alice hopes that you are having the very most scrumptiously wonderful time.

If you are lucky, you can try on the Mad Hatter's hat when he is not looking.

Oh and, don't forget to put on your Sweet William corsage I've made you.

It's quite the pink and gold symphony it seems.

With towers of fancy teacups for you to choose from.

And don't forget the pink hibiscus blossom, for the sweetest little touch.

Golden hour magic is quickly turning into fairy light twinkles.

Little bun does not want the magic to ever end!

I don't think anyone does.

I sure don't, do you?

Luckily, the magic lives within us, and we can return whenever we'd like.

Evening did not keep us from giggling and sipping.

The mushrooms even sang their curious tunes.

I am so grateful for a tale as such, that brings us together in this way year after year.

In the secret garden with all of our friends...

Through the rose arbor, into our own sort of Wonderland...

With the love of fairy tales burning ardently.

Waiting for people like you and me...

To follow the white rabbit...

And venture into our own storybook, if only for a brief moment.

Golden Hour Pink Frosting Tea Party

Welcome to our golden hour tea party.

My sister and I have been spending endless hours enjoying the lemon and flower filled garden.

Of course, I took her visit as the opportunity to have a fanciful tea party.

How could I not?

With this scrumptious weather, birds singing and the delightful unfurling of petals, we'd be nuts not to take advantage of it all.

The dove, in her nest in the grapefruit tree, didn't even seem bothered by our shenanigans.

Of course, Teddy wanted everything to do with the party, whilst Matty sat in the shade somewhere napping.

I spend most afternoons and early mornings having tea in the garden at this time of year.

The poppies and ranunculus are blooming like mad, and I almost can't keep up with the dizzying magic of it all.

And so, right at golden hour, when the light streams in like a daydream, we gather in the citrus grove.

Cakes and treats galore, with lemon peppermint tea, so wonderfully refreshing.

We waited for the perfect moment to cut the cake.

When could that be, you ask?

Or should I say, cakes, tee hee.

The perfect moment would be...

When golden hour begins its enchanting explosion of light.

Illuminating everything just right.

Trust me, you will know exactly when that time is.

So, you best be certain to have your treat of choice in hand...

And a hot cup of tea ready to go.

As you sit and chat and laugh at the table, because...

If you get lost in the admiration of beautiful confections, you just might...

Lose sight of...

The perfect moment in time!

When golden hour descends upon your soirée.

Transporting you to a faraway land.

I will be the first to attest, that it doesn't get any more beautiful than when the sun does this.

'

Oh me, oh my, it's just divine.

How lucky are we, to have golden hour every day?!

I look forward to this happening every 24 hours, what a dream.

And so, if you can't find us, just hop up the stairs into the secret garden.

We will likely be singing and laughing and carrying on about the most hilarious happenings.

We could be proper, but why would we? (hee hee)

These spring days are beyond lovely.

Such a wonderful little escape, which I highly recommend.

Well, it has been a pleasure to visit with you today.

Writing to you from under the lemon tree, where the desert meets the forest.

But now I must skedaddle, as my sister and the boys are waiting for me.

The sun has set, so next we shall turn on the fire outside, and sip cold elderflower drinks.

Because after tea, why would you do anything else ;-*

Under the Lemon Tree for a Tea Party

I'd like to invite you into the citrus grove with me...

For a blue and yellow lemon infused tea party.

With way too many photos, alas it's impossible to choose.

But if I know you, you likely will not mind.

You see, it all began on a beautiful spring day.

When the new season beckoned us into the garden.

With French bread and baked brie, fruit and of course the aforementioned tea.

Not wanting to lose a morsel of time with the lemony goodness hanging off the trees.

Our two snows took hundreds of lemons out, but luckily so very many have survived.

And so, in celebration, it was only appropriate to have a tea party in their honor.

Wouldn't you agree?

I picked early flowers from the garden.

I am always overjoyed to see a narcissus unfurling.

One of life's most wonderful treasures have to be lemons.

In my opinion at least.

The freshness, the flavor, the color!

And why, pray tell, does yellow work so well with blue?

Of course, the Tombstone roses turned up just in time for our little soiree.

They can't stand to miss out on such an event.

It was truly an explosion of yellow goodness.

I say was, but I should say is, because truth be told...

I have spent every single moment possible this week out under the lemon tree.

Right next to the grapefruit, lime and orange trees.

Chatting with the birds, enjoying delectable morsels, and I even brought out some paints.

I've made sweet little flower arrangements in glass bottles...

As the boys run around, trying to steal French bread nibbles here and there.

I made the most incredible discovery.

Kiwi tastes delicious with lemon squeezed on it.

The "tartnesses" sort of cancel each other out and you get the most refreshing delicious flavor.

I was truly utterly amazed by that.

I am having too much fun running up into the citrus grove every day for a neverending tea-time.

I try different teas throughout the day, all decaf since I have a bad reaction to caffeine.

Which, I don't mind at all because I adore an herbal tea.

Especially fresh mint tea.

My other two go-to's are orange spice or lemon ginger.

I always keep fresh mint in the garden.

It's so wonderful to always be able to pick a bunch, no matter the time of year.

The weather has been just beautiful, cool with nice sun.

Making this the perfect place to be.

A springtime celebration is just the thing...

To help wash away the winter chill and begin to enjoy garden days galore.

I can not believe how quickly early climbing roses are blooming.

Once it begins, it all unfolds quickly and wonderfully.

And so, I sit out here, writing to you...

Just as the sun shifts into golden hour magic.

One more slice of lemon poppy seed cake is good for the soul.

As evening starts to sneak in, wanting to be a part of the tea party fun as well.

Wash the dishes and begin again, but this time for dinner.

We simply can not help but just want to live out here.

It's wonderfully inviting and calming.

Of course, I couldn't resist turning this spot into my studio for a few days.

Some lovely paints and lovely treats from morning, to golden hour, to evening, and begin again day after day.

I am content hiding in my secret garden, with lemons galore.

Of course, lemonade and lemon bars and candied lemon peel are always on the menu.

I will make lemon curd soon, as well as marmalade.

I freeze lemon juice in ice cube trays, a wonderful way to always have it when you need it.

That way lemon bars can happen all year.

The apple trees are almost done blooming, and I already see little baby apples growing everywhere.

There are so many poppies, and some might begin shooting up blossoms soon.

The quince tree is in full bloom at the country house and the peach and plum trees just finished blooming.

I almost can't keep up with it all.

But I make time to just be with them, standing in the breeze, watching the bees amongst the flowering fruit trees.

Just this morning I thought, I can't believe it's spring again, and I felt a flutter of butterflies in my belly.

Oh, glorious days!

I hope you are extra well in your neck of the woods.

Down the flowering path of wild blooms.

I'm sure I shall run into you soon.

We are all well here, where the desert meets the forest.

Halloween Magic and a Midnight Soirée

Our favorite time of year is here.

With colorful leaves, caramel apples, carnivals and dancing around the crackling fire.

Costumes and twinkling lights sparkle up the night, as we set our table with delight.

We light the candles and fill the table with sweet treats just for you.

The master of ceremonies is Jack the cat.

He looks like he's up to pure mischief.

Golden mice and sparkly stars are tucked in everywhere...

Just beware the poison mushrooms.

They are actually guests as well, not for eating.

And Mister owl is keeping his eyes open for anyone who samples too much punch.

Enter the sparkle and magical mayhem if you dare!

With singing fairly lights and antique clowns, you must beware.

Sarah Blank's little bunny sculpture decided to hide in a Jack-o-Lantern cup and popped his head out at the stroke of midnight.

He gave us all quite a fright!

Do be careful or you might get turned into a doll's head in a teacup by the local witch.

You can see, she's already given some visitors butterfly wings, such as Mister Bun.

Now, open your caramel apples and take a bite.

They are known to remove 3 years off your age with a maximum of 12 bites.

Open your little purse and fill it with candy corn too, as they are also known to have some sort of magical powers.

It's never too late to practice some spells and open some surprise crackers.

Dare I tell you that this little giggling face below set himself on fire, in a big ball of flames.

Yes, it's true!

I have no idea how the entire table didn't go up in a fiery disaster.

I quickly grabbed a giant pot and some potholders and shuffled him right in and took him outside.

Then he took a good bath and was allowed back at the party.

Although, perhaps I should have exercised more caution :-)

He thinks it's all a big game of Trick or Treat!

One of my little witches I made years ago was more than unamused at everyone's antics.

In fact, she was positively bemused.

Spider thought it was quite hilarious, but that's only because he could get away so quickly.

And the clowns thought that whole thing was absolutely entertaining, to say the least.

Alas, here we are, tickled pink and orange, having the most delightful of Halloween times.

Under the beautiful lights, as the sun makes its exist for the night.

Take another sip and eat a few more treats, as it's almost time to go dance under the moonlight.

We hope you had the most marvelous of times.

And will hold a place for you at the table...

Whilst you take your yearly flight.

Under the starry starry night!

So overjoyed to have had you as our guest.

At our home where Halloween is celebrated year-round, kept alive by a little candlelight flame burning in our pumpkin hearts.

I am sorry my blog was down for over a week due to the Typepad crash of 2022.

But I am so happy to bring you the pumpkin holiday festivities, no matter the delay.

I hope you had a wonderful time, and I can not wait to see you again next year.

Be careful as you make your way through the haunted woods.

Don't talk to any ghosts that you don't know on your way home.

Of Roses and Tea Parties

I was tending my roses in the garden this morning...

When I realized that it felt like the perfect moment to have a tea party.

The weather was beyond glorious, the birds were tweeting madly, and the roses too lovely not to be fully enjoyed.

The most wonderful moments are usually impromptu ones, aren't they?

I got together some shortbread and tiramisu, and then I put on the kettle.

I made orange spice tea with honey and enjoyed every second of it.

It takes so little effort to have an absolutely lovely morning.

I think we should all strive to do that more often.

It's such a mood lifter and makes for a very enjoyable moment in a day.

The Gene Boerner's are being show-offs as usual, and I adore them for it.

A delectable time indeed!

Of course, mister big eater wanted it all, so I brought out pup appropriate treats for him in my pocket.

As you can tell, he was also digging in the dirt :-)

But no matter, we just shrugged it off and enjoyed our morning tea.

The roses are just sublime.

They are never better than they are at the beginning of rose season.

I try to absorb every morsel of this magical garden time.

Books and flowers, making gals like us happy all over the globe it seems.

My mom gave me the pink cake for my birthday.

No, it is not edible, but I don't mind that at all.

The poppies are unfurling right at this very moment and the bees are beside themselves.

They go bonkers over them.

Springtime - how lucky are we to have seasons?

I wish it would be spring here until October.

Our springs are probably like the summers in colder climates.

Sunny and warm.

I wouldn't mind stopping the heat right here.

But I suppose, knowing that it will get scorching hot only makes these lovely spring days that much more delightful.

Appreciation is definitely high during these stunning days.

I will stay in this moment as long as I can...

Won't you stay for a little while as well?

I have all the teas imaginable to choose from.

And if you like white chocolate tiramisu or shortbread, or even white chocolate macadamia cookies, then you'll be really happy to join in.

The classical music is playing, there are quail eggs throughout the garden, and some have even hatched!

I'll share photos of them next time.

Quail babies are the cutest ever.

For now, I am off to continue enjoying my day.

I took some photos to share with you here, and it took me a few hours to edit and sort through.

If I could learn how to take less photos, and be extra choosy, I could probably be here more often.

I am trying, that will be my new goal.

Happy Halloween from our Gypsy Camp ♥

Happy Halloween dear friends!

Today we would like to take you with us into a tale, a place in time, that we've conjured up for this year's festivities.

We invite you into our old-fashioned vintage Halloween town!

Truth be told, Mister Lovee really put most of this Halloween magic together, including the guests and setting.

I took out all of our vintage pumpkins and props, and even found a sign I made many years ago.

We'd love for you to come along with us on a little adventure, won't you?

If you were walking down a wooded path, and happened upon such a place...

A place that brings back all the childhood memories of simpler times, with home grown pumpkins and bobbing for apples, I ask...

Would you venture into this fairyland, where Jack-O-Lanterns glow under twinkling skies?

Would you be too afraid and run away?

Or would you be utterly intrigued to find out who lives in such a place?

Would you be so enchanted that you might stay?

Perhaps for a dance around the fire?

With fairy lights and glowing faces.

Would you sing and twirl 'round the cauldron?

Take a sip of the Witch's hot cider?

Or is it more of a punch?

Made of herbs and berries from around the garden?

You will not know unless you try it.

Go on my pretty, do not be afraid, on this once a year pumpkin holiday.

But wait...

Did someone dare to enter this enchanted place, and who could it be?

But of course, trick or treaters are always the brave ones.

I fear they have not realized whose gypsy wagon they have come upon.

They can not see that this is the home of the elusive Michael Meyers.

Or that he is standing right behind them, eeeek!

But have no fear, Micheal (err Mister Lovee), is changing his ways.

He is giving out candy this year, but perhaps you should beware?

The costume winner of the year was the boy dressed as a dog.

Don't you agree?

Please fly in on your broom, and join us in the merriment of All Hallows' Eve!

We shall be here all day and night, twirling under the stars with our sweet friends.

If you stay all night, you might just be here in time...

In time for day break, when the whole scene turns into fairy sparkles that float way up into the sky.

Welcome to Mad Tea Party 2021

Hello and welcome dear Wonderland guests.

I have a tale for you.

Of course it is true, and real to be sure, but some things you simply must see to believe...

You see, grown Alice woke up one day to a memory deep in her heart.

A memory of a place so magical, she was certain she had been there at least once before.

She remembered it the way one recalls a dream, in flashes of visions and feelings that seem so ardently real.

And so, she set out to the place where it all began...

A picnic under a big tree, where she read books and dozed.

Memories began to flood back...

A table, a certain time...

But what to do, when both clocks stop at a completely different hour?

She recalled stacks of plates and teacups, as she began to dream once again.

What was this place, she wondered?

And why did it beckon her so deeply, as though it was where she was meant to be?

She took one last sip of tea on her delightful picnic...

And sat back to watch the shapes of the clouds drift by.

She felt her eyelids getting heavy, and right away she was taken back to those vague memories, of that place of utter enchantment.

But, no sooner had she started to doze off, when she heard a rustle in the shrubs.

She turned her head slowly, and saw a bottle and a key strewn about.

Oh my she thought, I have indeed been here before!

She had never been more sure of anything in her life.

Although her memories were from her childhood, she stepped back into the moment as though it was today.

She was sure she had seen this Drink Me concoction before.

As she sat up dazed and in complete wonder, a white rabbit emerged from his burrow.

She could hardly believe it!

It was at that moment that her mind became flooded with with vivid images.

She knew just what to do.

She took a sip from the bottle and grabbed the key.

And just like that, she went right back in!

Crawling carefully through the rabbit hole, and then slowly falling, like a feather...

Her dress billowed in the air, and when her feet touched the ground - 

She knew it had been this place she had been dreaming of all along.

She pinched her arm to make sure it was real, a grown up Alice, returning to that place buried in her most fantastical dreams.

Wonderland!

Yes, that was it, that is where she had been before.

Up the little hill and through the garden, a Mad Tea Party was in full swing.

Everyone was there, with laughter and endless tea pouring.

Oh hello Alice, why yes, hello Alice! Said everyone.

We've been waiting for you, where have you been? They asked.

Well, I'm not quite sure, said Alice.

Then she went on to say, rather quickly and awkwardly -

I do know that I grew up you see, and it's been many years since I've been here.

I was out for a picnic and taking a nap, when the white rabbit appeared with a potion for me to drink, and...

Wait there, said the Mad Hatter!

You have not been gone for more than 3 minutes Alice, of what do you speak?

Yes Alice, of what do you speak, asked everyone at the table.

Alice knew, she was in a place where dreams and magic never end, where time stands still.

And so, she smiled and said, oh yes yes you are correct!

It was perfectly clear then...

She had stepped right back in -

Could it be that she was, Alice in Wonderland?

She knew by now not to ask such silly things in this place of magic.

So, she grabbed a seat and a big beautiful tea cup, and asked you and you and you to join her once again.

And here you are!

She knew not to question the happenings of Wonderland, but to enjoy being here instead.

Please, take your cup, and have a sip...

A deliciousness unimaginable shall grace your lips!

One lump or two?

Tea and milk will always do!

It is always time for a Mad Tea Party, wouldn't you say?

And more importantly, how do you do?

There were the most exquisite teacups stacked so high -

And treats that would melt in your mouth.

A spoonful of magic helps the medicine go down you say?

Oh but wait, that is another fairy tale altogether.

In Wonderland you can drink the stars!

Twinkle twinkle little bat...

Just make sure you never lose your way through the Looking Glass, I say dear girl!

It was a tea party feast, everyone was happy, and time was no matter.

They felt content and fulfilled, with a joy only a child can feel.

They laughed at absurdities and embraced everyone's differences.

Nothing matters here, but the trueness of one's heart you see.

As golden hour descended upon the party...

Fireflies twinkled in the trees.

Alice did not want to go, and continued to wonder to herself, how she would ever get back here?

She asked around, does anyone know?

The magic was so beautiful, she did not want to have to let go.

However, she felt herself feeling so tired again.

She had eaten far too many treats.

She rubbed her eyes, and searched for her watches...

What time could it be?

And then she realized, she was back at her picnic under the tree, where this all began so many years ago.

She felt utter joy in her heart, because she got the one answer she had been searching for her whole life.

The question she carried with her since the last time she was here.

The question of her heart being...

How do you get to Wonderland?

The White Rabbit, March hair and Mad Hatter (even the mouse) shouted the answer to this question when she asked them.

How do you get to Wonderland you ask?

Why dear girl, all you have to do is BELIEVE!

And so you see, the Mad Tea Party and all of its magic is always there for you.

When you are a child it is easy to believe, then you grow up.

But, one day your grown up self becomes in touch with that child-like place deep in your heart again.

And that, that is how you can always get back to Wonderland dear friends.

It's all up to you!

Allow yourself to dream and believe.

Of course, I know you do if you are here my fellow dreamer.

And so, Mad Tea Party 2021 is my gift to you!

Stay as long as you'd like, get comfortable and have seconds and thirds of everything.

Stay all day, stay all weekend, come back any time.

We are here to enjoy each other's company kindred friends!

Let the Halloween Costume Tea Party Begin ♥

It's time for our Halloween evening festivities to begin my friends!

The goblins tried to keep me away but I persevered and here we are!

Golden, pink and orange confetti drifts in the air...

As you step in to your wildest wonderland of Halloween celebrations.

Magic fills the room, here just for you ♥

Choose the most enchanted tea cup you can find.

I heard there is a tea cup that even sings in the softest hauntingly beautiful tune.

Telling fortunes and casting only good spells.

Come into my tea room of mystery and mischief...

Hosted by Mrs. Pumpkin herself, dressed as the queen, emerging straight out of my late night painting sessions.

All you need is 1/4 teaspoon of magic to last you the year, go on now, don't be shy, drink up my dear!

Insects fly in and are instantly turned into gold...

While the invisible witch shows us only her hand, dare you take a teacup offering from where you stand?

There are sweets and confections a plenty, for one and all...

And karaoke with a Pumpkin Queen is quite a ball.

She can sing full opera and set free the most beautiful sounds.

But beware the pink pumpkin of journey's untold.

For one mere lick is certain to send you back 200 years in time, and we still do not know the remedy for your return, oh my!

And if you attempt to sneak away with one of the 24k golden insects, well...

You can tell what happened to the other guests (jack-be-little pumpkins), I'll say no more.

:-)

Everyone wants to be around Mister Pumpkin, as he leans over and whispers the most utterly decadent tales you could ever fathom.

About the time he grew in a pumpkin patch, and watched the witches fly over the moon.

Memories from being just a wee pumpkin babe himself.

And the time he sat at the foot of the bed in Marie Antoinette's bedroom.

Watching her try on striped stockings and pink satin ruffled shoes beyond any imagining whilst preparing for her masquerade ball.

Of course, who would even notice a pumpkin listening you see.

The tales and secrets they have piled up from here to thee.

But get a pumpkin and a China head doll together, and this Charlotte girl will tell you tales that will send shivers up your spine.

The endless attics she's been in and the dolls that come to life at night, before she was finally invited to dine at our yearly Halloween soiree!

Poor dear, I'd say, let her have all the shroom nog she can muster.

Now, allow Mrs. Pumpkin Queen to bestow a good spell on you before the season is over...

That you may carry Halloween in your heart forever more.

That you will never grow up, nor lose that magical spark deep in your heart.

That you shall be able to tap into Halloween any day of the year.

A time of make believe and frolic.

Of twinkling lights and golden leaves.

Take your vial of fairy dust, and hold it near and dear.

In hopes that we will meet up year after year.

And never forget, the creativity within you.

Be true to you no matter the day.

Be strong, be brave, be creative, be imaginative...

Nothing can ever take that away.

It is yours forever my dears, says Mrs. Pumpkin Queen.

For Halloween can only exist with the power of your greatest imaginings!

As daylight falls, the party kicks up into extra spooktacular gear.

We dance and twirl and toss sparkles into the air from ear to ear.

Listening to the giggles of melting candles (they do that you know), and savoring the flavor of caramel apples.

The song of your heart.

The Halloween joy, the memories, the air, the scent, the magic, the mystery!

May it live within you every day of the year my friends.

A love for creativity and imagination is what keeps the Halloween inspiration alive in us Halloween lovers.

Now dance under the blue moon this coming week.

Set all your wishes free into the night sky, and know that your kindred spirits see them take flight.

And above all, believe, never loose that, not ever.

Wrap it in rosemary and rose petals and hide it deep in your heart.

A Costume Tea Party, of the Halloween Variety

I would like to personally invite you on an adventure with me...

Up the attic stairs and into a wonderland of costumes.

Finding just the right ruffles and lace gloves to prepare for a Hallowen fete.

A tea party if you will, of the costumed variety.

Witches, warlocks, fairies, cats, dragonflies...

What ever your mystery may be, join together to clink tea cups with me, won't you?

On Saturday the 24th of October I will be sharing my festivities with you.

I am knee deep in the magical old trunk, searching for the perfect frock.

A tiara, and mask, ribboned dancing shoes...

The light is changing, golden hour signifies the sun setting and the perfect hour for...

Magic and mischief of epic proportions.

Happy Happy Love Yourself Day!

Hi there!!!

Guess what, I'm throwing you a party today!

The message is self love.

The vibe is all things sweet.

The feeling is, be good to yourself.

I loooove Valentine's day.

I adore it, it knocks my socks off.

But only because over 20 years ago I decided that Valentine's day is a me day.

I love hearts and swirls of pinks and red.

The guy at the candy store asked me if I was having a party, I said, why yes I am!

Little did he know, tee heeee!

Me me me meeeeeee!

That also means a party for you you you youuuu!

(you should have seen the sweet tooth hatter's face when I told him he could have all the candy, childhood dreams come true right there, haha!)

I love setting my parties up and photographing them, it is such a fun creative outlet.

A perfect fun thing for me to do on Valentine's day.

That's the one thing I've always loved about our yearly tea parties, it's that setting them up and taking pictures of them really immerses you in the moment.

Mindfulness is crucial in this crazy life.

Take some time for you.

We do enough self loathing.

How about some self loving?

What if you could believe that everything in your life is just as it should be?

Perfectly imperfect.

I'm just happy to be here - the journey is short enough so I intend to enjoy it.

Good-bye fretting.

Good-bye worry warting.

A Halloween Celebration♥

Hello there!

It's still Halloween in my home.

Won't you join in the fun?

I intend to marinate in this magic a few more days.

I can't handle how cut and dry November 1st becomes.

No no no, not for me, I need a little more.

My mom gave me the most charming menagerie of circus characters which worked perfectly for my décor this year.

Sparkles and sweets galore.

Oh Halloween, how I love you.

Twirler in the midst!

My dining table is soooo happy right now.

Dancing and silliness abounds!

What must she see in her crystal ball?

I always love a zebra, don't you?

Twinkle lights and glitter everywhere!

It isn't Halloween without the green hand right?

Owls and crows and berries oh my!

We always need a really rude sweets eater to seal the deal, wouldn't you say?

And little white pumpkins to brighten the day.

Witches and black cats, candy corn and caramel apples...

Owls and bats...

And don't forget Boo!

The favorite word in our costumed acts!

I'll never get enough, oh no sireeee!

Give me this mayhem and magic more than once yearly, please oh please!!

Oh my fellow Halloweenies, how I love this time of year.

I'll have Halloween all weekend before I am fully prepared to change décor.

It's been more than busy around here, as you know.

I've had crazy personal real estate dealings (my previous career which I still keep a toe in for fun). Don't worry, the country house is not going anywhere.

And, so many other things which I am going to tell you all about soon.

I promise.

It's all good, but different and sooo unexpected even for me.

Like a crazy dream, this little journey.

The twists and turns of life you seeee.

But for now we have circus magic and Halloween bewitchings a plenty.

I still have black painted nails and a jack-o-lantern by my bedside.

The wonderful fairytale like quality of autumn is certainly here, what a thing.

The blessing of seasons, how lucky are we?

Hello Hello!

 Welcome to our 9th annual Mad Tea Party♥

The white rabbit is here to guide you...

He'll show you the way...

Over the bridge and into a world of tea party dreams.

Take his hand and off you go.

What dreams may come will certainly unfold.

No time to waste.

No time to be shy.

Take a seat, a treat, a teacup too!

There are sweets a plenty waiting for you.

Any tea you'd like.

Floral petal menagerie is your taste, perhaps?

There's cherry chocolate cupcakes and edible fairy tale mushrooms just in time.

We've set a table with pink roses that hum the sweetest tune.

Canopies of trees sway in the breeze as we clink and nibble and giggle galore.

Take the key and unlock the magic.

Aren't we lucky?

We get to celebrate this wondrous tale Lewis Carroll left for us all.

A tale that helped us grow our imagination.

And brings us together, as like minded friends, over and over and over again.

Oh such bits and bobs to peer at, you see.

Collected for tea sipping festivities indeed.

Winged creatures fly around fairy lights...

As laughter swirls around.

Poems are typed on old keys and rose petals tossed in the air.

The table is bursting with little pleasures.

Do you take one lump or two?

Don't forget to sniff the wishing bouquet that was waiting for you.

Twinkle twinkle little star...

Err, bat?

The mouse reciting his favorites.

As some of us venture...

Into the most mysterious treats of all.

Amanita muscaria if you please?

Will I grow tall or very small?

I'm not quite sure which I'd prefer.

Such delightments our summer tea party brings.

And just when you thought it couldn't possibly get much madder...

The green fairy turns up just in time.

Also known as, absinthe extraordinaire.

We have 3 varieties waiting for you.

Dare you partake in such intrigue?

Serve just a tiny bit, for it's very strong you see.

And then use your fancy little spoon that holds your sugar cube just so.

An utterly enchanting process I must confess.

Iciest water prepares for its job.

With a four spout absinthe fountain, no one has to wait very long.

And so we begin...

Drip by ice cold water drip on the sugar.

 Plip plop, plip plop...

Falling into the absinthe...

Magic begins to happen.

As the sugar dissolves into the absinthe, the louche begins.

Which means, the absinthe turns wonderfully opaque from the water and sugar drip.

Some of us like to just watch the process all day.

Time to take your sip of this anise and herb infused delight.

But you know what they say.

It might make you go mad.

I ask honestly, could any of us go muchness madder?

Take a sip and let us know.

Roam around the table, sipping as you go.

Tea or absinthe, you take your pick.

Another absinthe for you or you?

Oh yes, don't mind if I do, turaloooo.

A little summer rain storm would like to roll in.

But we'll be safe right here under the trees.

Ruffled skirts billowing in the breeze.

Another wonderfully delightful year to share with you.

Our 9th annual, to be sure and true.

But oh my, how can this be?

It is, I promise.

It's true as true can be.

What marvelous magical times we share together.

Witches Halloween Party 2015 ♥

The witches the witches, they're on their way...

That means you too, I dare say.

It's so exciting and wonderful and magical too.

To get to celebrate such fun each year with you.

I hope you are wearing your best pointy hat and fluffiest bloomers, because...

Your transportation has arrived.

There's a skelly driver waiting for you to jump in.

And Percival...

Oh wait, I just realized you don't know Percival!

Well, this is Percival Muttonchops, gifted to me on my last birthday.

He's our resident court jester and does things like take your coat and help you get into your coach.

Isn't he soooo handsome?

So, where was I?

Oh yes...

No no, it's not just Cinderella who gets to live happily ever after and drive around the forest in a carriage...

Witches travel by carriage too, don'tcha know?

Ya, it's true.

All the time.

Even to go to the five and dime.

Yep, they sure do.

So in you go fair witch.

Time to head over to a bevy of witches' tea parties.

Everyone has sparkles in their hair and capes.

Polka dots on their curled toe shoes.

You know, just your standard fabulousness in the world of witch.

Spider web eau de parfum and all that jazz.

How I love the sound of the carriage wheels on dirt and gravel.

Squeeeeeal!

Can you hear that hauntingly magical tune?

The creatures are singing as you arrive at the garden arbor.

Oh wait, it's the mushrooms singing.

Yes yes, that's what it is.

Percival will take your broomstick and pet toad.

Keep them safe until it's time to go.

And so it happens...

That witches march in just in time.

Oh look, there's a gnome dressed as a furry boy.

Oh my!

Hi gnome, your dog costume is perfection.

Just as golden light descends upon us, we make our way in for tricks and treats galore.

Into the witches' château we go...

A bright and vibrant feast for eyes and belly.

I baked everything in my cauldron today.

Did you know that cauldrons make the best baking pots inside the fire pit?

Well they do.

I baked up all sorts of little things.

And sprinkled them up with sprinkles from the magnificent shop of my beloved fellow witchycakes of Canadian lands...

Sweetapolita!!!

Pretty snazzier than snazzy wouldn't you say?

Sprinkles and sparkles make the world a better place.

Oh so many treats to gobble up.

But beware.

You wouldn't want to lose a finger.

Don't worry, these are fingers of witches from far away, and if you eat one you'll get extra magical powers or something like that they say.

Hello fellow dreamers!

Welcome to our 8th annual Mad Tea Party ♥

Oops, looks like someone may have eaten the caterpillar!

 

Lovely meeting again, in that place where wishes flutter on the breeze of flipping book pages.

Where imagination is limitless and stories live on for 150 years and more.

Thanks to Lewis Carroll, we meet on this 150 year anniversary of Alice in Wonderland.

 

In 1865, a dreamer too, wrote a tale so inspiring and magical that it lives on and defines a part of our imagination in ways not even he could have imagined.

We clink to a magnificent tale and the man who thought it up ♥

So that we could continue partying like it's 1865 year after year!

Generation after generation.

And so we plunge...

Into the mad tea party chapter.

Because really, what's anything without a little madness?

Sweets and treats.

Teacups stacked from here to there.

It's time it's time!

The light of golden hour flickers in...

As we gather right outside the fairy bower.

A perfect place to sip and munch before deciding to plunge through the arbor into wonderland.

Candy coated chocolates roll about the table.

As cakes call your name.

I thought the baby pig was cute, so I stole her from a previous chapter.

Who wouldn't want to gaze upon ruffled flowers and maybe swallow a cake or two?

Even pigs do.

Sparkles and petals and happy things galore.

Pretties and buttercream and sipping tea with striped strawers?

Little moon faces made out of sugar and edible glitter beg to be dunked...

In they go...

Swirling to and fro.

Then sipped for ultimate magical experience at any tea party.

Petals float in tea cups.

Top hats get passed around.

Piggies eat cookies too :-)

Stardust flutters about.

Even tiny edible stars turn up on queen cakes just for you.

We read aloud with great respect for sheer madness!

And then it's time for making wishes.

Wishes made in pennies and keys and sparklies.

Who knows, one might even come true for you?

Note that, the one activated wish on the bottom right is not photoshopped.

Hmm, perhaps it's yours?

Yes yes, it must be!

Golden light casts its spell...

As the clock strikes...

Time for you to decide if you will stay and have tea or venture further into your dreams?

Anyone willing to go first?

Oh, here we go, first brave soul.

In he goes...

Wonder what his wish would be?

And what he thinks he might see?

The question is, will you follow?

And what do you hope to find?

We'll be here waiting to hear your tales.

Sloshing our tea about.

Nibbling until our buttons pop.

Laughing until we have to lay on the ground holding our bellies.

Dreaming forever and more if we can.

We'll rhyme and joke and confuse everyone who stops in.

Ready to fill up your cup.

So never fear, someone just like you is always near.

Halloween Party ♥ 2014

I've heard a tale of a party brewing...

A twinkling party of mayhem, magic and pure frolic!

Down the path in the hidden garden.

At sunset...

When light is golden.

At the old tattered greenhouse is where you shall find enchantment, they say.

A twinkling and hauntingly beautiful tune plays, beckoning us.

We peek through the garden gate...

And there it is.

A party, a party, is that what we see?

Why yes yes indeeeed!

It's a Halloween party for you and you and you and me!

We have invited all manner of characters to join in the soiree this year.

A wooden girl needing paint and a new face asked if she could go?

And so I said yes, and painted her head to toe.

Now she is here, butterfly-full, leading the way.

Take off your witchy shoes, dance in the sparkles!

Come through the gate...

For treats and great chuckles!

Perhaps even cackles really.

A Hauntingly Magical Celebration {Back to the Witch's Cottage}

Hidden on my parcel of earth is one of a few little rooms, a cottage of sorts.

This is a space I fill with herbs and garden findings, candles and treasures.

When autumn begins to nip at my toes, I know it's time to let a little extra magic out.

This is the space where that happens.

Since autumn looms in the nearish future, and I have enchanted Halloween parties on my mind -

I thought a trip back in time to this party would be just what the good witch ordered for today.

I have been working on a few projects that are utterly autumn related.

Going through many photographs of autumns past.

And while we aren't ready to part with summer quite yet...

I have been enjoying it sooo much, that I thought I would bring you along for a smidge.

Wanna come?

I was on a hunt for some fave magical autumn moments.

Some of those are definitely from the gyspy wagon at Halloween.

There were sooo many photos to choose from throughout the years.

Oh my!

I grabbed a few to relive with you today.

Fortune Teller Halloween....

These pics are inspiring me for the months to come as well.

I have had so much fun these last few years in the blogosphere with you.

These pics are a constant reminder of all we have conjured.

Haven't we had such great times?

The gypsy wagon all spookified.

I have such fun out there I tell ya.

I love when Mister Lovee joins in and becomes the fortune teller.

Oooooo!

Sooo creepy.

Offering me a wee treat.

He does all his own costumes and is soooo into the spirit of it all.

He quite surprised me that year when I saw an old witch rifling through the bushes.

Eeeeks!

He even acted in Old Tucson in the 80's.

He's got endless tricks up his sleeve, that one.

What does the crystal ball tell you?

What a wonderfully magical time.

I can almost smell the caramel apples and popcorn.

The candles, the pumpkins.

I am sooo inspired to have the best autumn ever.

What about you?

There is such magic that swirls in with the rains of late summer.

We had one of the hugest storms ever on Friday night.

Soooooo much rain, it was amazing.

Yesterday the whole place felt like a swamp, and the gypsy wagon was extra mysterious.

Odd when the desert turns to swamp on rare flooded monsoon moments.

With vines crawling all around the wagon.

Cool breeze sweeps into our crazy heat wave of endless days of 100+ degrees.

Reminding of what is to come.

My mind flutters with ideas and things I want to do.

Sooo many things.

All have to do with playing of some sort, of course.

 

As I get older I feel younger.

I am not sure what exactly is going on.

Is this normal, and should I feel this way, I ask you?

I have more frolic and skip in my heart than ever before.

 

Is growing up a choice?

 

I don't know any of these answers really.

But what I do know is that I want to make each day as wonderful as can be.

Live in the moment.

And, most of all, have a blast!!

Sparkles on top hats, a sign of all that is good.

Into a fantasy world of the perfectly real and true variety.

Garden cherubs in top hats lead the way.

As our beloved friends greet us into the mad tea journey.

That's how you know you are in the right place.

It's been such a marvelous afternoon, hasn't it?

As the hottest summer sun starts to fade away...

Dusk is upon us, with its blueish twilight.

The time where madness and magic unite.

Largest full moon peeks out from behind the rain clouds...

Asking us to stay up all night.

And why oh why would we ever want to say goodnight?

So we stay, and dance under moonlit bluest skies, through the arbor of lights.

A mad tea party all night is how we play.

As night begins to turn into another day!

Earliest dawn creeps in.

It's where we shall stay, and party like it's 1865 until our feet can no longer go on.

And only then shall we say......

Swirling Round & Round...

I am so so so excited about this year's Mad Tea Party.

I have thoughts swirling about like mad.

I am having such a busy week...

So, it's extra fun to think that the next thing on the list is making this announcement.

It really gives me something to look forward to.

Can you believe it will be our 7th one?

I am not sure where all the years have gone off to.

Or even...

How this all happened.

This blogosphere.

And years and years of your kindredness.

It's been a blast hasn't it?

I always feel like the Mad Tea Party turns up when we all seemingly need a little spark.

In fact, it's the main reason I ever started having these.

Summer seemed internet boring.

And a tea festivity so hit the spot.

Thanks for joining in with me over the years, and for new friends who join in as well.

Almost time to sound the trumpet!

And throw together an extra ruffled frock.

But first, the white rabbit and I are just wrapping up all sorts of home projects.

Along with guests and lovely visits a plenty all this week.

Busy times indeed.

I need to tidy my hovel.

I am not sure why I still behave as though I am 9.

I don't know when I will ever be able to take out 1 scarf at a time.

Or 1 pair of shoes at a time.

I seem to have 3 jewelry boxes pouring out all over the place at all times.

Shoes hanging from the fan.

Studio paint every little where.

And just all around, well, madness...

In my world all the time ;-)

I guess some things never change.

 

Worst part is, I don't like anyone to help me.

I need to tidy it up all on my own.

Which takes me forever lately.

I can't seem to wrangle myself in.

The older I get, the more rotten I get.

Pretty soon you will be calling be Edie.

Halloween Party 2013!

Just when we thought it wouldn't be, we turn up 5 days before, and announce a party.  

So many of you jumped in, hooooray!

What sports, what kindred Halloween lovers, you're wonderful as can be!

Our teeny tiny 2013 party hit the spot for us.

What better way to soak in the spooktacular goodness of October?

I received a note inviting me to meet someone outside the flower garden arbor.

My my, how curious indeed!

Follow the path of popcorn and glitter and candy corn too it read...

So, I did.

I found a little tiny tea table, and ever so many garden pumpkins waiting for me.

Such beautiful pumpkins that grew in the garden, all sparkly and happy.

So ready for Halloweeeeen!

I spot a few fur babes...

Eyeballing the punkins.

And another sniffing around...

Wait sir, please don't eat the party trail, haha!

What a curious little table sitting right outside the garden I thought.

I snooped around a little.

Eager to steal a treat...

The pumpkins were chattering so loudly, I could hardly think.

Just then, I heard rustling in the flowers, so I poked around.

Sniffing garden blossoms, collecting some in my gown.

But wait.

What is that I see?

An apparition?

Behind the flowers, looking back at me?

Oh.

My.

Goooooodnessss!

Who on earth could it be?

Miles is worried...

Huuuuh?

He's not convinced it's someone we should befriend.

Come take my hand sweeties, says the red headed man.

He hums a tune as he sniffs marigolds, on his way down the path to greet us.

His display is so lovely, he must be a-okay.

Should we run, or should we stay???

If we go, we had better grab these beauties and run!!

But you see, the Jack-o-Lantern cookies beckon me.

Licorice too?

And sweet kettle corn?

We mustn't go.

The trick or treaters line up.

Hey, it's okay, they say.

And so we cozy up, and have treats with Mister he.

He offers me one of my favoritest sweets.

Big Hunk, oh nougat and nutty me!!

We all want some, even Matty.

(don't worry, he didn't get any for real)

The thing is, the sir has a plan for us.

A plan for the past...

I nod as I chomp.

Nom nom nom.

He is inviting us on a trip to the parties from the past.

And urges us to run, as we are being chased!!

Just like that evening falls upon us, as we surge to Halloween parties of yore.

A magical swish and swash of this and that!!

And here we go!!!!

A celebration of how we arrived at our 6th annual soiree.

The first time we met, I recall it as if it was yesterday...

Halloween Extravaganza 2008

With a pump organ and late night dances around the cauldron.

In 2009, we made our way through the forest, to a haunted apothecary shop.

It was wondrous!

A Hauntingly Magical Celebration in 2009

And then, in 2010 we found ourselves in the most enchanted place.

A visit to Gypsies and Fortune Tellers!

It was quite the visit.

Remember the old woman?

Eeeks!

Then the next year, we met under the huge trees, oh it was a night to remember!

A Magical Bash under the trees in 2011

We stayed up way too late, under moonlight and candle.

It was amazing!!

A whimsical party at the cottage is where we were in 2012.

I loved that old fashioned evening.

And now, here we are today.

Our 6th annual bash, and we didn't have to cancel.

We made it!!

Thank you to so many for plunging at the very last minute.

I looove these parties.

It's a great way to mingle with you all, and to infuse our own world with the fun of putting it all together, and making memories.

Thank you for the fun and magic!!!!

Here's to another year!

Hope to see you here again for another Halloween party next year.

Why, hello there you.

What took you so long?

I've been waiting.

Been waiting all year, right in this tree.

Time to party like it's 1865!

So so happy to see you, mrrrrreawrrrr!!

Let's follow Alice, down the path...

She drank a secret potion, which made her quite sleepy, and not tall at all...

Slowly, slowly she tumbled...

Down the hole.

She awoke to a white rabbit, passing through...

Zippity Doodah, in a hurry, woo hooo!

He spoke so fast...

 He was late, late, late for tea!

Can't be late, mustn't be late!

 As he scampered off he quickly invited her to the festivities...

As well as you and you and you, and even me too!

She chased him through the forest, her long dress nearly tripping her...

And then, she saw a glimmer through the trees.

Laughter and clanking, nonsensical rhymes!

She approached with butterflies in her belly.

Nervous and excited, time for fun, tea time too!

The white rabbit was there to introduce and greet Alice, and all of us following right behind her.

Halloween Party ♥ 2012

Welcome Welcome!

To our 5th annual Halloween party!!

This is such an exciting time of year.

Autumn is in the air, and for those of us who love Halloween...

It doesn't get any better than the magical feeling it brings.

We are having a garden Halloween party at the cottage, do come in!

Scarecrows, pumpkins and orange lights galore...

Ribbons and treats, and oh, so much more!

This party is for you, jump in 1 2 3...

If you really believe, you could actually dream yourself here, yes indeed!

Oh, I see you now!

Welcome welcome, to our tiny town.

Boys arrive in furry costumes...

So realistic, they almost had me fooled!

There are oodles of treats.

Enough for seconds and thirds for sure!

Don't miss the warty caramel apples on apricot tree branches.

Pumpkins of all shapes and sizes are great guests.

As the spooky Queen Cake hand shows up to taste test!

Not to mention, bugs in frosting are just the thing...

To make your worldly palate sing!

Green witch cake gruel!

(just put food coloring in your cake batter - I used lots of green and a little blue)

And a vampire clown or two, too.

Spells and potions as you wish...

 

And the orange flame candle, lit for a year of bliss!

Or six.

Locked up nice and safe, are...

The witch fingers themselves.

Folks travel near and far, for a taste so sweet, it's hard to beat...

Unexplainable power bestowed when nibbled, they say.

So take a bite, eat it whole, go ahead, pave the way!

(I made these fingers, and dusted them -using a paintbrush- with powdered cocoa before putting them in the oven.  Recipe links and tips at my other blog, here)

The end of October, a time of year so vastly dear.

Our childhood comes by for a visit.

And in some miraculous way, we feel free to unleash our true selves.

Although, Witchy says we should always carry it with us.

No matter the age.

The magic is always within us...

Waiting to take a skipping stroll, a twist a tumble.

Let hair loose, and off we go!!

A Halloween Party on the Way....

It seems things are getting extra curious around here in Fanciful, Arizona.

The witches have arrived, and hung out their stockings to dry from the trees.

Oh my!

In fact, last night I felt them whipping up the air...

 And sparkle sparks of cauldron flames twinkled low in the sky, from here to there.

By morning, under curving trees, the light crept through...

As a little witch set out to tidy up for her garden party.

She collected red apples over in the enchanted area known as witchwood.

Glossy beautiful dark red treats.

Ready for dunking in candy and caramel.

But beware.

Prepare yourself.

For if the moon shines just right, you might get quite a fright.

You see, scary creatures do lurk about in chilly autumn woods, by night.

Eeeeeeee!

Gulp.

The pumpkin patch, dry and spooky as spooky can be...

Holds one more gift of the season it seems!

As sun sets, everyone comes out to play.

Fairy dusted to a T.

Ribs and all, of course.

Kind witches set the tone...

Bringing baked goods for a party of pure delight!

Can you believe it????

Are you excited?

Even a teensy weensy bit?

I sure hope so!

I have not had my socks knocked off with this year's Halloween magazines on newstands and such.

Have you?

So, I think we need to get together and make our own magic.

When I think Halloween, I want serious Halloween.

I want sparkles oozing out of my pores.

I want pumpkins beyond galore.

I want the hugest caramel apples ever.

I want, I want....

I want major Halloween festivities.

I want twinkly lights coming out of my ears.

I want black lace dragging behind me down the street.

I want to bathe in a tub of candy corns.

I want to wear all the jewels I can, all at once.

I want black lipstick covered in fairy dust.

None of this, non-magical Halloween stuff I am seeing commercially.

Halloween is not supposed to be sensible.

For Pete's sake.

Hello wicked mayhem?

I want, SERIOUS Halloween makings.

You?

If you are a Halloween lover, you get what I mean.

I know you do.

I am already trying out some wardrobe pieces.

Funny enough.

These dresses do not come from my Halloween stash.

They come from my everyday wardrobe stash.

Ha!

Halloween Party ♥ 2011

Welcome to our 2011 Halloween Celebration!!

Won't you come in?

Do follow the path...

Through the arbor, and into our garden...

I see some of you are sneaking in through the flower path, how wonderful!

The evening is filled with a buzz of excitement and wonderment.  The scent of kettle corn and caramel apples fills the air.  It is a scent reminiscent of childhood days.  The magic of Halloween, lives in the ability to delve into childlike frolic and abandon, year after year.

And so, under the giant trees, we gift to you, a perpetual Halloween party!

Just look at your exquisite frock!  You look magnificent!

What fun, what merriment!!

Oh, let's jump in, and enjoy!

Treats and tricks, spells and incantations, dance about!

Choose your favorite sweet, and let's think about dancing!

So many characters tucked away, insisted that this Halloween would be their time to come out and play.  They are so excited to meet you!

There is pumpkin love galore...

Why, I can hardly believe it is this time of year.  Must play and soak it all in.  It's these very parties that help bring the spirit of the season to life in our home.

And so, I thank you so much, for joining in!

Whether peeking in as a guest, or hosting your own party, I am so very glad you are joining us.

Whilst elfin babes hang out in their punkin cottage!  How cozy, how quaint!

Tonight, you will eat beyond many treats!!!

And they will be, oh so worth it, and oh so tasty!

Like, how to grow your hair to your knees over night.  And, how to win the lottery... (watch out for the bodyless hand below, literally, eeeeeks!)

I for one need some broom trick lessons.  What about you?

Oh oh, and, no proper Halloween fête could be without caramel apples, as far as I am concerned.  They are my faves!  Miam miam!

Did you see that?  A black candle was blown out by the wind.  A sign that, more magic is to come, indeed!!!

The sun is setting, and with that arrive more witches and warlocks, and ghosties, and you and you and you!!

Darkness falls quickly, on this gloriously wonderful night...

I see more guests making their way, following the golden light...

It is an absolutely delicious evening!!

Purple and orange twinkling lights, work to illuminate the sky...

Darkness brings cackles a plenty!

Antique lace up boots dance about!  (I know that's you)

What a sublime time!

I can hardly contain myself!

Oh and look, the boys have lined up...

They are bobbing for apples!

Elves stay warm, in their cozy abode...

As the evening goes on and on, and on!

I never want it to end...

I love these autumn evenings, with star-light a plenty, and bewitching nights with friends!

Let's bottle it up!  Halloween merriment in a jar.  You know the spell, I am certain!

I hope you are enjoying our Halloween party, because we threw it just for you.  Filled it with all the Halloween goodness we could muster, and then, sprinkled it with fairy dust.  For good measure, of course.

psss:  Saturday update (noon):  I am finally removing the cobwebs from my exhausted witchy self friends!  Helooooooo!  I am getting my broom ready to party!  I was up until 4 a.m.  Something quite challenging for a girl that goes to bed at 7:30 and wakes at 5 to tend her garden.  And to think, there was once a time when I begged to stay out and dance until 4 a.m. ;)  OKay, I will be visiting today and tomorrow, and as long as it takes me to make all my visits!!  See you sooooooon!  Sunday is a full fledged party day too!!  Love, V 

Pumpkins & Bugs + Glitter {Halloween Party Planning}

The party is a mere handful of days away, or less, oh my!!  Are your striped stockings in order?  Broom in check?  We have places to go, apples to bob for, magic to make!!  But first, we prepare...

I am preparing my frock, sparkling up my bugs, blackening my flowers!  I am polishing my boots, readying my spells, fluffing my cobwebs!

And most importantly, preparing this year's babies for their first fête...

I am collecting the punkins that are ready to go on with the next step in their lives, you know...

Pies, cakes, Jack-o-lanterns, and more!

I am whipping around my garden on my vintage Schwinn 3 wheel bike (which needs a trip to the bike doctor), collecting all the babes I grew, and watching others who are still growing.  The harvest was mostly complete in July, I thought.  But then, a whole new wave.

We have eaten and gifted many, but still, there are those that felt that they HAD to be at the party...

And so, I collect...

Calling all pumpkin head partiers!!! ;)

Ooo, babies still sleeping and growing...

Oh, I love you wee punkin' babe!!  He loves you too ;)

Collect collect, vite vite, no time to waste.  We have a party to whip up, pronto, on the double!

Oh, pumpkin holiday, here we come!

How did pumpkin time get here so soon?  It is all a blur I tell you, a pure blur!

Now, let's go, we must get to the party area quick.  Leaving the back garden, driving by the cottage, vroooom!

Oops, lost one!  Toss him back in carefully ;)

Dahlias smile, sunlight twinkles...

Shrubs of crimson marigolds, edged in mandarin orange, adorn the path...

Pedal pedal...

Through the front garden...

And to the party site we go. 

No time to waste, oh no!  The party planner, that's me, is delayed.  She has no plans, no way Jose.  Fly off the seat of her broomstick, that is her motto! 

But the pumpkin grower delivery girl  is here with her goods (that's me too, phewey)!

 And that is an important step indeed!

Next step, make pretty wearables!

Spray painting faux sunflowers and plastic insects, with a little flat black paint, is most crucial to our ensemble!

I spary paint my bugs and flowers, and sprinkle glitter on them while the paint is still wet.  Glued and painted, all in one!

Yummms wickedness attire!

I wonder if I should glue a brooch back to my flower, or hot glue it to a ribboned bracelet.  Remember we made those here and here?

I choose the bracelet method...

I hot glued a sparkly insect to my flower, then hot glued that, to the center of my bracelet.  Oh and, I tucked in some super orange leaves as well...

I like it, what do you think?

Not half bad for things I had in my house, no?  Plastic bugs, fake flowers, cardboard, ribbon, glitter, spray paint and hot glue?

If you don't have proper witchy jewels, you best make one of these.  It suits your darker side perfectly, I just know it ;)

It is madness around here I tell you!  Must get back out and work on my party.  I am such a last minute gal.  I mean, witch.

Halloween Festivities 2011 {An Invitation}

It is impossible to believe, 'tis true, that the time of the year for swirling twirling magical festivities is upon us!

 

The planning frenzy is in full swing.  Cutting out masks, preparing our finest frocks!

Of course, no party would be complete without you, and so we ask, will you join us?

Oh please, say yes!

The fortune tellers were here this weekend, and they told us, that you secretly couldn't wait...

I dare say, I think I even saw you frolicking amongst the gypsies?  Searching through their old trunks for a proper costume??

We have been following a serious Halloween party planning schedule.  With tips and tricks found in ye olde spell book...

I most certainly hope to all hopes that you did not keep your spell book on the shelf all summer?  You must get it out and dust it off, if you have, and follow that up with a proper witches dance.  I suggest you do this as soon as possible.  Like now. (tee hee)

I have been drawing and cutting out cardboard stars, and glittering them up, in preperation...

The cottage is aglow!!

We are soooo excited!  Staying up late, Mister and I, conjuring up all sorts of crrrrazy magical bits and bobs.

We even, shh, whisper....

Whee eeven carved our first, yes you guessed it - of the season...

I am completely entranced by everything Halloween this year.  I am eager for deeply traditional hauntings, mixed with "make it up as you go along, Halloween magic."  I want vintage Halloween, childhood Halloween.  Over-done Halloween, with every cheesy wonderful little Halloween happening I can think of.

I want full Halloween immersion.

Tell me you do too, oh please do!!

And so, we have this virtual party. 

A party we get to share, from the comfort of our own homes.  With our own fun, frolic and mayhem.  I just love it!

 

What more could we ask for? 

I want to step into Halloween and feel every little tingle of it.

 

Candy corn, kettle corn, caramel apples, dances around the fire.  Chants, song, cackles!!!  Yes oh yes!

I'll tell you, things are already getting terribly curious around here.  What with doll sized gourds growing, and...

Scarecrow winds turning our house into a veritable jack-o-lantern...

Oh Pumpkin Holiday, here we come!!

 

I think I might faint from excitement, and you?

We best not waste ticks of the clock!  Set the enchanted gypsy table, it's almost time...

Well actually, in a hair over a month, but still!!  Time flows like water.  Get your striped stockings out now, for goodness' sake! ;)

 

The moon leads the way...

The skellies are at play!

The witches are here to stay!!

Get your sweet tooth in order asap...

Halloween decadence, at its very best, are you in?

 

Ohhhh, I hope so!

 

Below are some tips and rules and tid-bits, for those that will be joining the festivities on their own blog.

Wondering what to do if you sign up?

If you are signing up to participate in the Halloween Party all you have to do is leave me a comment, with your blog link, stating that you wish to join in... (You have until October 21st, 2011 to sign up)

Then follow these 4 bits of advice (err, rules)...

1)  Share the flyer and/or the button on your blog as soon as possible and link to me.  I will then add your name to the "Halloween Partiers" list in my LEFT hand side bar, and link back to you. 

2)  On the day of the party, October 22, 2011, please make sure to post a Halloween Party post of your own, on your blog, linking to me.  Other partiers will be visiting you on that date. 

3)  IMPORTANT - On the day of the party, after you have your own Halloween Party blog post up and running, please leave a comment at my Halloween Party post, including your "Actual Party Link."  It will serve as an archive of all partier links. 

4)  Blog hop with the other partiers on the day of the event and have a mad blast! Also, leave your blog post up for a couple days if you can.  It takes us all more than one day to make the rounds.  The party usually lasts all weekend, plus.

Note:  Please make sure you post a party post on your blog on October 22nd if you sign up.  If you sign up and later find that you can't make the event, please let me know and I will remove your name from the list.

ps:  Important Party comments tip if you use Blogspot. 

Please read carefully.

I have been having a very difficult time leaving comments on Blogspot blogs, and therefore, don't as much as I would like.  So, I asked my friend Theresa who uses Blogspot, why her blog is so easy to comment on?  This is what she guided me to share with other Blogspot bloggers... 

When choosing how folks will comment on your blog, you should consider trying following.

In blogger, one should go to:
1) Settings
2) Comments
3) Select Pop Up Window under Comment Form Placement
4) Save Settings

Make sure you allow for lots of options in the people who leave comments, such as Name/Url.  Not just Google Account.  To do this, after you have done the 4 steps above -

1) Settings
2) Comments
3)  Choose "Anyone" under Who Can Comment

note:  I think the problems occur when people are using Full Page or Embedded Below Post

pss:  During this Halloweenfest time, I will minimize my regular "blogs I heart" blog roll, so that we can compile the Halloween partier list and not slow down the site too much ;)

Grand news indeed!

One of the many projects going on in Wonderland, is the location for our very mad, Mad Tea Party!  A wee cottage for a girl (that's me) to hide out in, right in her very own garden.

We sure did fall through the rabbit hole.

And, it's a good thing that I really do share a tiny world with a Mad Hatter, who makes such madness possible.

All I have to do is slip into my Wonderland shoes (handmade by my Mammie), and dream, and believe, and hope, and tumble........
